Young and Restless Star Valarie Pettiford Joins The Locher Room

Valarie Pettiford appears live on The Locher Room on Wednesday, October 30th at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT to discuss her return to daytime, an astounding 30 years since her last stint in the medium. The actress is set to make her debut as Amy Lewis on Young and Restless on October 29, a character last seen in 1988. (The actress chatted about her soap comeback with Digest here.)
Who Is Amy Lewis?
Originally portrayed by Stephanie E. Williams for the character’s entire run, which began in 1983, Amy worked as a secretary for Paul Williams and Andy Richards’s detective agency. She was pals with a few characters, including Lauren Fenmore, Traci Abbott and rock star Danny Romalotti. In fact, she even joined Danny on stage a few times and sang with him. As far as the character’s love life, she dated Tyrone Lewis and Nate Hastings, Sr., Nate’s dad, before ultimately leaving town to take care of her father.
Pettiford, who previously played Detective Courtney Walker on Another World (1988–1990) and Sheila Price on One Life to Live (1990-1994), is currently a series regular on BET+’s The Family Business, recurs on CBS crime drama The Equalizer and stars in the upcoming holiday movie Too Many Christmases. Not only that, but she has an impressive list of credits including The Mandalorian, The Blacklist, A Discovery of Witches, and Half & Half, for which she received three NAACP Image Award nominations for her role as Dee Dee Thorne.
In addition to her television and film work, Pettiford is also an acclaimed theater actress. She received a Tony nomination as Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 1999 for her role in the Broadway production of Fosse. Pettiford is also expanding her talents as a director and producer through her Scared Flight Productions banner.
