Young and Restless Star Elizabeth Hendrickson Reveals Her New Behind The Scenes Role

Comments

Viewers of Young and Restless haven’t seen a lot of Elizabeth Hendrickson as Chloe lately, but that doesn’t mean the actress hasn’t been busy at the studio. In fact, the veteran soap star just announced on social media that she’s taken on a new role at the show — as a director!

Stepping Behind the Camera

Hendrickson got her soap start playing Maggie Stone on All My Children, then played Maggie’s twin, Frankie Stone, from 2002-05 and in 2007, first joined Y&R the following year. She later took a break to appear as Margaux Dawson on General Hospital from 2018-19 before returning to Genoa City. Now, she has announced  in a post on Instagram, “After 24 years in front of the camera, I’m thrilled to be able to tell you all that I’ve stepped behind it. I’ve spent the past 18 months up in the booth, shadowing, observing & absorbing — not knowing if it would ever turn into something more. There were hurdles but I kept showing up, paying attention, and fell in love with the process. On Tuesday the 5th my first episode will air. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did directing it. The privilege (and pressure 🙂 of working with two giants of our genre, Eric Braeden [Victor] and Melody Thomas Scott [Nikki], on my first day was not lost on me.”

Hendrickson continued, “I have been supported every step of the way by my Y&R family…the amazing cast and crew.” Current and former co-stars showed their support in the comments. Lauralee Bell (Christine) wrote, “Congrats! So exciting! 🎬⭐️” Nathan Owens (Holden) added, “Right on, congrats! Keep up the great work my friend. 🙌🏽”

Two former co-stars from AMC also chimed in. Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee, AMC; Taylor, Bold and Beautiful) wrote, “👏👏👏👏 now come over to B and B and direct there too!!” while Alicia Minshew (ex-Kendall, AMC) commented, “Lizzy!!! This is soooo fantastic! I am sure you were amazing! Huge congrats! 👏💕💕”

Hendrickson concluded her message by saying, “I have deep gratitude for so many people from Y&R, Sony and CBS. Huge thanks to Josh Griffith, our Executive Producer and Head Writer, who greenlit my goals from the start. Danielle Unger, Renée Villafan, Matt Olsen, Jonathan Fishman, Vivianne Gundaker, Robbin Phyllips, Matt Kane, Jill Farren Phelps…..It took support and determination from so many.. and I got it. And to Owen Renfroe — the best teacher and mentor I could’ve asked for — thank you for your time, wisdom and belief in me.”
