Young and Restless: First Look at Shemar Moore as Malcolm Winters Returns to Genoa City
The same day that the news broke that Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox were returning to Young and Restless as Malcolm Winters and Stephanie Simmons, respectively, the actors reported to the set to begin taping their new story arc. And Christel Khalil (Lily) shared a photo of her and Moore with Sean Dominic (Nate) and Bryton James (Devon), offering fans a sneak peek at what fans can expect to see when the episodes begin airing in April. “Day 1 with Daddy O done!” she captioned the pic.
Together Again
Fox hasn’t been seen on Y&R since her original run, which took place in 1994 and 1995. Although Moore’s stint lasted from 1994 to 2002, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor returned for a pivotal stretch from 2004-05 and made subsequent visits to Genoa City in 2014, 2019, and 2023. The press release announcing their return to the CBS soap teased that the events of this storyline will have “shocking and lasting implications for the residents of Genoa City,” which immediately set fans to speculating.
The photo Khalil shared was quite the family reunion, with Moore posing with some of his TV relatives. Longtime fans will remember that when Dru (Victoria Rowell) gave birth to Lily in 1995, there was a question as to whether Malcolm or Neil (Kristoff St. John) was the father. Though Dru was convinced it was Neil, in 2005, it was finally revealed that Malcolm was Lily’s biological father when Dru consented to a paternity test. Malcolm and Dru decided not to share this information with Lily or Neil, but the truth came out in 2006.
While Malcolm is not related by blood to Nate, he had grown close to him when Nate was just a boy and Nate’s biological father, Nathan Hastings, Sr., passed away. In 1997, Malcolm wed Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) and officially became Nate’s stepfather. Though the marriage fell apart and ended in divorce in 1999, Malcolm continued to treat Nate like a son. As for Devon, when Dru and Neil adopted Devon back in 2006, the young man became part of the Winters family, and Malcolm became his uncle.
The last time that Malcolm reconnected with Lily, Devon, and Nate was back in May 2023 when he returned to Genoa City to attend the dedication of the Neil Winters Jazz Lounge. But what brings him back this time around, and what does it have to do with Stephanie? Only time will tell!
