Who Is Amy Lewis on Young and Restless?

Comments

This isn’t the first time Amy Lewis has been on Young and Restless, but it’s understandable if fans don’t remember her earlier years in Genoa City. The character first appeared back in 1983 and was played by actress Stephanie Williams until her exit in 1988. In October 2024, Y&R recast the role with Valarie Pettiford, who counts roles on Another World and One Life to Live among her numerous credits in film and television.

The daughter of Genoa City police commissioner Frank Lewis, Amy dated attorney Tyrone Jackson and worked with private investigators Paul Williams and Andy Richards. When she realized that Nathan Hastings was illiterate, she secretly taught him to read and write, which caused romance to blossom between the two. Amy also occasionally joined Traci Abbott and Lauren Fenmore to sing with Danny Romalotti on stage. In 1988, Amy left town to take care of her father, who had suffered a debilitating stroke.

In October 2024, Nathan’s son, Nate Hastings, was surprised to get a text from Amy asking to see him about an urgent family matter. He later reported back to Devon Hamilton that she had some mementos of his father she wanted to pass on. But Nate also admitted he had the impression that she contacted him for another reason, one she hadn’t confided yet.

Amy had some surprises for Nate!

When Amy came knocking on Nate’s door in Genoa City, she revealed that he had an older brother, Damian. She had gotten pregnant by Nathan before leaving town and marrying another man and she let Damien grow up believing that was his father. Amy also admitted that Damian had disappeared and she was dying of leukemia, so she asked Nate to find his brother for her. Although he was initially reluctant to believe her, he changed his mind after she presented proof they were related.

After Nate’s private investigator, Denise Tolliver, located Damian in Los Angeles, Amy agreed to go with him to California. However, Denise later discovered that the various companies that Damian had been moving between were all owned by him, which made things suspicious. While in Los Angeles, Amy did not join Nate when he met privately with Damian to offer him a job at Winters. After Damian arrived in Genoa City, Nate reported back to Amy that when he told him why he really invited him to town, he had no interest in speaking with her and stormed off, leaving Amy worried she’d never see her son again.

Thankfully, they were able to change his mind and Damian did come to visit his mother. Amy confessed that she was ill and didn’t have much time left, but it was her confession that Jackson wasn’t really his father and Nate was his half-brother that threw Damian for a loop and caused him to storm off again. Amy reluctantly agreed to allow Nate to send her medical files to a friend of his to get a second opinion and was relieved when Damian visited again. She explained that she was never around for him because she had to take a second job to pay for the medical bills when Jackson was sick. Although exhausted afterward, Amy hoped that perhaps there was a possibility her son could forgive her.
