The Young and the Restless Stars Remember Kristoff St. John on the Anniversary of His Passing
It has been seven years since Young and Restless star Kristoff St. John died on February 3, 2019, at the age of 52. Every year, when that date comes around, his friends and co-stars commemorate his passing with posts on social media sharing favorite photos and memories of the late actor. “Such a loss,” declared Beyond the Gates showrunner Michele Val Jean, who previously wrote for St. John when he starred as Adam Marshall on the NBC soap Generations. “I still miss him. Would have loved to have had that full-circle moment of him on Beyond the Gates. Rest in power, Kristoff.”
In Loving Memory
After appearing in primetime series like Happy Days and The Cosby Show as well as the mini-series Roots: The Next Generations, St. John made his daytime debut playing Adam Marshall on Generations from its premiere in 1989 until its cancellation in 1991. He then moved over to CBS to star as Neil Winters on Y&R, and remained with the soap until his untimely passing in 2019. During his career, St. John received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his work on Generations, and nine during his time on Y&R, taking home the trophy for Outstanding Younger Actor in 1992 and Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2008.
In her Instagram Stories, Tracey E. Bregman shared some photos of St. John — including a humorous one of him showering with his Daytime Emmy Award trophy — and declared that the loss “still hurts.” She also posted a screenshot of a Facebook comment that he’d left her, words which she still holds dear. “We are lucky to have shared and still share the stage with you, Tracey,” St. John wrote about his castmate. “You are a consummate professional with the creative force of a tidal wave. I am happy to be swept up in your current. Love you.”
Some kept things short and sweet, like Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), who shared a pic of herself laughing with St. John at an event and captioned it simply: “LOVE.” Daniel Goddard (ex-Cane) posted a photo of his friend and wrote “7 years. 🙏,” while Bryton James (Devon) didn’t even caption the photo he shared of his TV father playfully riding a statue of a lion in a park.
