The Young and the Restless: Amelia Heinle Says Victoria and Kyle’s Affair ‘Escalates Quickly’
Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) are about to explore their chemistry in a big way on Young and Restless when they have sex in the Thursday, August 27, episode. Heinle opened up about the unlikely pairing and the juicy drama it will create in a new interview with TV Insider.
Victoria and Kyle Give in to Passion
Heinle explained that when she began sharing scenes with Mealor, it felt like the soap was testing their chemistry, but she never thought pairing Victoria and Kyle would actually happen. However, when executive producer Sally McDonald revealed that the storyline was in the pipeline, the actress saw the possibilities.
“It could cause a lot of drama in Genoa City, and I’ve never done anything like this before,” Heinle told the outlet. “So, the more I sat there and thought about it, the more I was like, ‘I’m just going to throw myself into this because what an opportunity. I’m just going to do my best.”
Heinle noted that while there is an age difference, Kyle and Victoria have a lot in common, like being “loyal to their fathers and both very ambitious in business.” They’re also both currently single and lonely. “When they almost kissed [a few weeks ago], they realized in that moment there’s something there,” she explained. “And then it kind of escalates quickly after that.”
Giving in to her feelings for Kyle will create plenty of angst for Victoria going forward, especially since her new beau used to be engaged to her daughter, Claire (Hayley Erin). “Part of her, I’m sure, is feeling a little guilty, but she doesn’t quite want to admit that yet,” the Y&R star said of her alter ego.
Regarding Victoria and Kyle’s plans moving forward with this new relationship, Heinle previewed: “They’re going to just keep it a secret, and it’s the furthest thing from their minds that anyone will ever find out. It’s still in the beginning, so they’re not talking about their feelings yet. They’re just having a lot of fun right now.”
Heinle hopes that the writers keep the secret for a while to intensify the anticipation and the fallout once Kyle and Victoria’s affair is finally revealed. “The age difference and the family dynamic add a juicy layer to it,” she shared, “and it’s just going to get worse and better and all the things all at once.”
