It was a dramatic week for (from l.) GH’s Drew (Cameron Mathison), Y&R’s Michael (Christian J. LeBlanc), BTG’s Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) and B&B’s Ridge (Thorsten Kaye).
The Best
Beyond The Gates: Anniversary Explosion
The celebration of Nicole and Ted’s “perfect” marriage was doomed before it began, thanks to Ted’s former lover, Leslie (or should we say Dana?), and her thirst for revenge.
“We’re going to air all of Ted’s dirty laundry,” Leslie pronounced to her daughter, Eva, whose (secret) biological father is Ted. Eva supported the plan at first, surreptitiously going to work for Ted and Nicole while reporting back to her mother. But as time went on, Eva grew fond of the couple and enjoyed planning their party. As the guests arrived she tried to call it off, but Leslie locked her daughter in a closet and crashed the bash with a wildly over-the-top (even for soaps) speech.
“Are you going to tell Wifey who I am to you, or should I?” began Leslie as the Duprees looked on in horror. The story of Leslie’s long-ago affair with Ted spilled out, complete with Ted having brought his young son Martin to the diner where she worked as cover. When Leslie became pregnant, Ted assigned his (then) brother-in-law Bill to threaten her and ordered her to have an abortion. It didn’t work. “I took your money and had my baby in secret,” revealed Leslie. “This is your daughter Eva.”
A single tear ran down Eva’s face as all hell broke loose. Nicole ran out, Martin shoved his father onto a couch, and the Duprees retreated to the family home to regroup.
Ding, dong! “I’m sure I’m the last person you bargained on seeing,” purred Leslie…
General Hospital: Drew’s Life Blows Up
Body shots off a hooker at The Savoy while the crowd pulled out their phones and recorded it? Well done, Congressman Drew Cain!
Actually, well done Nina and Portia. The women teamed up to bring down their mutual enemy by getting their hands on some bootleg ketamine (via Brad) and hiring hooker Jacinda to drop it in Drew’s drink at The Metro Court. “Is this seat taken?” Jacinda asked innocently before luring Drew to The Savoy where he, ahem, let loose in front of all of Port Charles as the videos went viral. Drew woke up to a horrified Willow walking in on a half-naked Jacinda in their bedroom. Willow ran to Nina, followed by Drew, pleading his case that he would never cheat on her. “The entire Internet says otherwise,” snarked Nina.
Drew convinced Willow to accompany him to G.H. for a blood test, which proved there was ketamine in his system. He reported the crime to Mac, who humorously asked if there was any chance Drew took more of the recreational drug than he meant to? Even more amusingly, Carly put two and two together and got Nina.
“This was you, wasn’t it?” she asked Nina gleefully, holding up her phone with the incriminating video. Yes — but the more people who learn the truth, the more likely Nina’s life will be the one to blow up…
Days of Our Lives: Bo Is Dying?!
The search for John has gone on for months (and we sadly know how that story is going to end, in light of the tragic death of his portrayer, Drake Hogestyn), so the possibility of fan fave Bo Brady returning is welcome news. Bo has been in a coma since he was mistakenly shot by his son Shawn in 2023 and Shawn has had to live with the guilt ever since, so when the call came that Bo had taken a turn for the worse, his spirits sunk. He reminisced to Jada about what a great father Bo had been and described his happy childhood on the houseboat. “He was always there for me,” said Shawn. “I felt safe.”
Jada encouraged Shawn to find safety with Bo’s loved ones, so he turned to Steve and Kayla. Kayla shared that there’s a drug that could help Bo, but it’s not approved; Shawn proposed they steal it. “We need a miracle and that miracle is sitting in that lab,” argued Shawn. Steve wanted to go it alone since Shawn is a cop and it will ruin his career, but Shawn said he’s already in prison knowing he put Bo in a coma. “You know my dad would do the exact same thing,” asserted Shawn re: the proposed theft.
Teaming up with his uncle lays the groundwork for a long overdue resolution to Shawn’s guilt and gives viewers something positive to root for.
Steve’s response? “I’m in!”
Bold and Beautiful: Fashion Show Fallout
“It was bold, it was beautiful, it was Brooke,” decreed Eric, who orchestrated Brooke wowing the crowd at Forrester Creations’ most recent show sporting the wedding dress she had previously worn in 2003 in Portofino.
“You were incredible,” praised Ridge post-show, telling Brooke she saved the day. Steffy was not as enamored, snarking that their clothing line deserved the spotlight, not Brooke. Eric faced them all down, defending his decision to end the show with Brooke in the showstopper because it changed the narrative from Carter and Hope’s recent takeover. He added that Brooke and Ridge embody the company’s history and all he did was put their chemistry on stage. Brooke, Katie and Donna agreed, Steffy and Taylor harumphed, and Ridge downplayed the moment as a business decision.
So where did that leave them? Eric insisted Ridge’s future is with Brooke while Steffy stated just the opposite to Taylor. “Dad chose you,” she assured her mom. “I promise you don’t have to worry about Brooke.” Clearly she has no idea how many times Ridge has already flashed back to his “magic” moment on the runway with the bold, beautiful Brooke!
The Worst
Y&R: Victor’s Abuse Escalates
Michael Baldwin has been loyal to Victor for decades, so when he warned Victor that their Jabot spy might have turned on them the last thing he expected was for Victor to turn on him and accuse him of siding with the Abbotts.
“What more do I have to do?” demanded Michael. “Name one area where I have fallen short!” Victor started yelling about Michael having helped Jordan escape Victor’s dungeon for which he should “make amends for the rest of his life” and Michael was shocked. He’s followed every order, kept every secret… how can Victor question his allegiance? Because Michael is trying to control him and put up guardrails, spit Victor.
Huh? Victor’s unhinged behavior interferes with his stated goal to vanquish the Abbotts (as evidenced by Michael warning Jack that Victor was revving up their feud) and it pushes his family further away. More alarmingly, screaming at Michael for not letting him keep Jordan in a cage for eternity makes it look like The Mustache is losing it — and it will be a dark day in Genoa City if that happens.
DAYS: Johnny Nixes The Adoption
One day Johnny couldn’t wait to adopt a baby with Chanel and the next he was calling the whole thing off because he had doubts about being a good father since finding out his father (EJ) had raped his mother (Sami). “To bring a child into my life right now wouldn’t be fair,” he told Chanel, completely discounting what would be fair to his wife or to the teenage couple whose baby they had agreed to adopt. Tate and Sophia deserved to know the truth, he said. “Your truth, not mine,” responded a shocked Chanel.
Indeed, Johnny’s decision came out of left field. We understand that finding out he was conceived via rape has thrown Johnny for a loop and made him question his life, but “I don’t want kids anymore because I just learned my dad is a rapist” makes no sense. EJ’s long-ago actions have no bearing on Johnny’s current fitness for parenthood — people overcome rough beginnings all the time and go on to become loving, nurturing parents. To insinuate that he’d be a danger to a child (or whatever message DAYS is trying to send here) is an insult to the millions of moms and dads who successfully break the cycle every day.
“This isn’t a pair of sneakers you decided to return,” chastised the (apparently) far more mature Tate. “You’re an adult. Grow the hell up!”
