Striking The Right Chord

Comments

Bradley Cole (Jeffrey, GUIDING LIGHT) isn’t singing the blues — in fact, he’s putting together a new, live album.

“It’s from the tour I did last year where we went to 11 or 12 places all across America,” explains Cole. “We went to Atlanta, Austin, St. Louis, Chicago, New York of course, Los Angles…all over. I’ve been sifting through the material and we’ve chosen the tracks that we feel are the best. There will be 10, maybe 11, tracks on the record. We should be finishing it up now, so that’s going to be ready soon. Then I plan to go into the studio to record my fourth studio record.”

Cole — whose last album was called In Our Time — has his own label, Nomadic Music. “I set myself up that way,” he says. “I do all the production and hard stuff. Of course, we license things out to some distributors and Internet distributors, like Amazon. But we control everything ourselves, and we like it that way. It took a lot of work to set this up.”

So, was his first love music or acting? “Well, in the grand scheme of things, we all are actors at a very young age so I guess acting came first,” he replies, dancing around the question a bit. “I come from a large family, with many brothers and sisters, and we were always playing games or acting, playing cowboys and indians or something. So we all start acting at a young age. Lying to our parents, etc. But there was also music at a very young age. I remember taking guitar lessons when I was 8 years old, and it’s been a passion of mine ever since.”

Just don’t expect Jeffrey to pick up a guitar anytime soon. Although the previous regime of head writer Ellen Weston and John Conboy toyed with the idea of a dream sequence that would have Cole perform with Kim Zimmer (Reva), insiders say the new regime of head writer David Kreizman and executive producer Ellen Wheeler have no plans to create a jam session for Jeffrey.
