Whitley on Days of Our Lives — Everything You Need To Know

If the new nurse in Salem looks familiar, it’s because Nurse Whitley on Days of Our Lives is being played by actress Kim Coles, who is recognizable from her numerous roles in film and television. After getting her start on the sketch comedy series In Living Color, she starred as Synclaire James on the popular sitcom Living Single and Judy Owens on The Geena Davis Show. Cole can also be seen in episodes of shows like Frasier, Six Feet Under, The Parkers, and Baby Daddy. Coles made her daytime debut in the May 31, 2023, episode of DAYS for a brief stint, though in February 2025, she was back for more!

Nurse Whitley was first seen tending to Colin Bedford at the hospital and reacting badly when he initially confused her with Paulina Price, the woman he’d tried to kill. She scolded him for hurting Mayor Abe Carver and urged him to repent his sins if he wanted to get into heaven.

Later, Whitley entered Abe’s room and since he was suffering from amnesia and didn’t know who anyone was, he also believed her to be his wife, Paulina. However, this time, the nurse didn’t correct him and simply smiled. She expressed her concern for Abe’s safety, given that his attacker is also in the same hospital, and decided to whisk him away for his own protection!

The nurse brought Abe home to her apartment where he found nothing familiar about the place or her obsession with cats. She warned him not to answer the door and distracted him with tapes of her favorite soap Body and Soul so he wouldn’t watch the news. She also altered Abe’s wedding photo to take Paulina’s place and hired an actor to play his son, Theo Carver. But when Jerry refused to continue the charade and the police continued questioning her — including Eli Grant — Whitley decided that Abe needed to die.

After drawing some of Abe’s blood for a “medical test,” Whitley gave it to Jerry to splash at the docks to make it look as though Abe had died there and his body had been lost in the water. Unfortunately for her, Abe watched an episode of Body and Soul where Jerry had joined the cast and she was forced to drug him to keep him from trying to escape. She plotted to leave town with her beloved but Jerry went to the police and told Lani Price that Abe was alive. So Lani went to Whitley’s apartment and kicked in the door to find her father fully sedated. Whitley returned home at that moment and drugged Lani so she couldn’t rescue anyone.

Kayla Brady and Marlena Evans looked into Whitley’s files at the hospital and learned that her husband and cats had died tragically from carbon monoxide poisoning from a defective space heater and she believed it had been all her fault. Whitley drugged Lani and dumped her at the pier then set up a space heater in her home so she and Abe could go together. Marlena arrived at the apartment in time to talk some sense into Whitley, followed by the police, who placed her under arrest. Given the nurse’s psychotic break, she was sent to Bayview for treatment.
