LIGHT Lovefest
Ever wonder if soap stars really get along? GUIDING LIGHT’s Yvonna Wright (Mel) once admitted that some cast members of DAYS OF OUR LIVES had “attitude” when she was on the show as Wendy. “…I just didn’t feel the love that I feel at GUIDING LIGHT,” Wright told Soap Opera Digest in 2003. Soap Opera Weekly confirms that GL’s cast has a charming, family-like bond. The actors like each other, and they aren’t afraid to go on record about it. Check out some of the warm fuzzies GL cast members have shared with Weekly about one another over the past year.
“I’m just so happy to be a part of the GL family. I know that sounds cheesy, but I really am. In the last year, I’ve felt like I’m really a part of the team. The cast and crew are great people.” — Orlagh Cassidy (Doris) on being a part of the GL cast, Weekly, 1/8/08
“I love acting with Danny (Cosgrove, Bill), because he’s fierce. He and I are like Frick and Frack. We’re totally twisted in the same way. He really is like my son.” — Jordan Clarke (Billy) on working with Cosgrove, Weekly, 12/18/07
“I’ve never had more fun. It’s like all your friends you work with getting together and having a party.” — Michael O’Leary (Rick) on fun shoots with the cast in Peapack, N.J., Weekly, 7/8/2008
“…about two or three times this year, a couple of the directors, Peter Simon (ex-Ed) and Grant Aleksander (ex-Phillip) [and I] got together. It’s great to hang out and tell funny stories about how things used to be back in the old days, and the situations we all survived on the show.” — Ron Raines (Alan) on keeping in touch with old castmates, Weekly, 1/29/08
“When I work with Ricky (Paull Goldin, Gus) and Jessica (Leccia, Natalia), it’s absolutely awful, because all we do is laugh the entire time. Jessica is so hilariously funny. We get nothing done.” —
Beth Ehlers (ex-Harley) on filming with Goldin and Leccia, Weekly, 12/4/07
“I absolutely love working with Beth Ehlers. We’ve had great story, and we’re a good fit as actors.” — Murray Bartlett (Cyrus) on acting with Ehlers, Weekly, 3/25/08
“I love Justin Deas (Buzz). I want a cross-dressing storyline with him. I want Jonathan to come back in drag to trigger memories from when Buzz used to do it. [Then] he’ll get in drag and they can fight crime together.” — Tom Pelphrey (ex-Jonathan) on his desire to work with pal Deas, Weekly, 3/11/08
“Working with him is a breath of fresh air…we work really well off of each other.”
— Gina Tognoni (Dinah) on working with Daniel Cosgrove, Weekly, 1/22/08
“Jordan (Clarke is so talented. He could read you the phone book and it would be damn interesting and intriguing…[and] Marcy Rylan, Lizzie) is so talented. She’s quick, funny, sweet, beautiful — she’s the whole package…. I get to work with my [onscreen] sister, Gina Tognoni, who is damn good. This show has some fantastic actors.” — Daniel Cosgrove on his excitement to work with the cast when he returned to GL, Weekly, 11/20/07
“Having him back made us realize how much we missed him, and also missed Edmund, who is such a dynamic character.” — Bradley Cole (Jeffrey) on welcoming David Andrew Macdonald (ex-Edmund) back to GL, Weekly, 11/27/07
“I’m very close to Grant Aleksander and Beth Chamberlin (Beth) — we’re all like family.” — Michael O’Leary on his bond with Aleksander and Chamberlin, Weekly, 12/11/07
