It’s Only My Opinion: Young and Restless’s Kyle, General Hospital’s Tracy and More Undone By Jealousy

Comments

Jealousy makes people do crazy things — especially on soaps.

Young and Restless’s Kyle is losing it. He asked Claire to go to Paris; she said no and asked for space. So, naturally, he proposed. Again, she said no and asked for space. He pursued her, got in a fight with her new “friend” Holden, and made plans to chase her down in L.A.

Kyle: “I’m not about to let a playboy like Holden wine and dine her. He’s only out for a good time. He’ll never fall in love with Claire like I have.”

Diane: “You’re sounding a bit jealous.”

Kyle: “I have a bad feeling about the guy. I’ve seen the way he looks at Claire.”

Diane: “Maybe she just wants to have a good time.”

Kyle: “I have to get to the West Coast as soon as possible!”

He’s not listening to Claire or respecting her boundaries. (Kyle also told his young son, Harrison, he would “bring Claire home and make everything better,” which makes him a terrible father since he knows she’s on a walkabout.)

The trip went about as well as could be expected.

Claire: “I told you I needed space, and instead you fly out here and try to control who I spend time with. Different state; same old moves.”

Exactly.

Bold and Beautiful’s Sheila is back to her old moves, following Deacon to his therapist’s office to eavesdrop on him talking to Taylor about ending their marriage. Deacon is not okay that Sheila hid murderer Luna from him, and Taylor validated that.

Deacon (to Taylor): “You know Sheila. You know the whole backstory. I don’t have to explain about the toes and the bees and that crazy Sugar. Just coming out of my mouth, it sounds insane.”

Ya think? Sheila overheard Deacon call Taylor “beautiful, honest, and pure” and opened the door to see them hug. Her eyebrow went up like the old days when she was shooting her son and his wife in an alley. Uh-oh…

Meanwhile, Electra kept her powder dry after learning Luna had drugged and sexually assaulted her boyfriend, Will, and gotten pregnant. Electra was present at Bill’s house when a paternity test proved Will was indeed the father, ruining her dream of a carefree life with her young beau. Luna launched into her daily repetitive rant about how Will is going to love her because she’s pregnant with a Spencer baby, etc., and the family reacted with horror.

Electra kept silent — until the police burst in.

Luna: “You had no right calling the cops!”

Electra: “I had every right. You shot Liam and your grandmother, held Steffy at gunpoint, not to mention faked your own death.”

Chief Baker (to Luna): “You’re under arrest.”

Electra: “You’re going to prison, thanks to me, and don’t you forget it.”

Psychotic Luna saw herself as Will’s girlfriend’s rival, disguising herself as Electra so a drunk/drugged Will would have sex with her and Luna could then “have” him. (I know, ew.) But Electra saw Luna as the psychopath she is, who needed to be vanquished. So, she made it happen.

Luna: “She wants to lock me up because she’s scared Will is going to love me and our baby. [To Electra] You’re jealous that Will made love to me first and we’re having a baby together!”

Electra: “Oh, please. Will would have never touched you if he knew it was you behind that mask. He can’t stand you. Now that you’re going to prison, he’ll never have to look at that pathetic, lying face.”

Electra then slapped Luna in her pathetic, lying face, and the psycho was carted off in handcuffs.

Finally! A strong woman emerges on B&B!

Desperate girls willing to do anything to vanquish a rival and “catch” a man are a soap staple, but they have a shelf life. Days of Our Lives’s Sophia has reached hers, now that Tate knows he didn’t father her baby. That was a looooong time coming after Sophia lied that he was the dad, delivered her baby alone, faked continuing the pregnancy, dropped the baby at a firehouse, claimed Holly was having an affair with Johnny, etc., so she could “have” Tate.

Tate (at the airport, trying to stop Holly from leaving): “Sophia is not holding anything over me. The baby is not mine. Nothing is standing between us. I love you so much. I just want to be with you.”

Holly: “I don’t know what to say.”

Tate: “Say you’ll stay in Salem. Please don’t get on that plane.”

Music swells and… smooch!

Coveting thy neighbor’s boyfriend is Soaps 101, but jealousy can propel other stories besides romance. General Hospital’s Spinelli is unnerved by Nathan’s return since he is Maxie’s husband and James’s father, the roles Spinelli has been happily filling. Spin tried to talk to Britt about her brother’s return, which sparked a different convo: What’s up with two of Faison’s kids coming back from the dead at the same time?

Britt: “There’s no big story.”

Spinelli: “I find that hard to believe.”

Indeed. Something’s up with Nathan (gone seven years with no memory?), but he still wants his job back at the PCPD, and he used his rivalry with Spinelli to jumpstart his efforts.

Nathan: “As great as Spinelli has been, he’s not James’s father. I am. And I want to be the one to take care of him.”

Anna: “I will look into the feasibility of your return.”

Tracy is full of envy too, but hers is aimed at Monica’s sister, Ronnie, who inherited the Q mansion. GH is playing the humor of that situation, like Brook Lynn having to pack up the late Lila’s tea set because Tracy doesn’t want Ronnie using it. BL told Chase she felt bad about bringing him into her lunatic family and he responded with a 30-year-old running Quartermaine gag.

Brook Lynn: “You had to execute a search warrant on your own home.”

Chase: “Technically, it’s Ronnie’s home. Monica gave it to her.”

Brook Lynn: “Don’t start!”

Beyond the Gates’s Bill is starting to pay attention to Dani, but it’s too late. He divorced her for their daughter’s friend and is now spinning out that his ex-wife has a hot, younger husband. Bill confronted Andre, calling him a gigolo and gold digger.

Andre: “I’m taking better care of my wife than you ever did.”

Bill: “I’m watching you.”

And Hayley’s watching Bill, storming over to Dani’s house whenever she can’t find her new hubby.

Dani: “Ah, karma coming to call. It gets awfully cold when Bill’s spotlight on you dims. I tried to warn you: Past is prologue.”

Hayley: “I’m the one warning you, bitch. You have your own husband, stay the hell away from mine!”

Bill and Hayley’s battles are getting worse, and he told Dani all about it when she came to deliver a thoughtful gift for his birthday. Dani pronounced Hayley’s behavior “embarrassing” and bragged she took the high road when confronted by his new wife.

Dani: “If I really wanted to get under her skin, I’d tell her about our kiss.”

Bill: “Did you tell Andre?”

Dani: “Wasn’t worth mentioning.”

Bill: “So you’re already keeping secrets from your new husband.”

Oh, the games! Hayley is attacking Andre for not keeping Dani “satisfied,” while Dani’s encouraging Bill’s feelings and letting him kiss her. It’s all very confusing for successful alpha male Bill Hamilton.

Bill: “I feel like I’ve lost my edge. I’m fighting with Hayley, I’m jealous of Dani. How did I end up on this fence?”

Because he got played! Turns out Hayley is a total con woman.

Hayley (to Randy): “This whole marriage has been a hustle since Day One. We are this close to taking Bill for everything he’s got.”

Hayley knows Bill is kissing his ex-wife, so she’s come up with a new strategy: She’s going to kill him.

Crazy!

Hey. It’s only my opinion.
