It’s Only My Opinion For The Soap Week Ending November 8

GH’s Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), B&B’s Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Hope (Annika Noelle) and DAYS’s Xander (Paul Telfer) are in the thick of soapy drama.
Actions have consequences. The best soap stories play that.
When has donning lingerie in the office ever been a good idea? B&B’s Hope was having a secret dalliance with Carter that “no one could find out about!” — so naturally she put on see-through skivvies to surprise him and accidentally fell on Finn just as Steffy walked in. Steffy fired Hope and demanded Ridge support her decision, which he did — despite his eight marriages to (and long love affair with) Hope’s mother Brooke.
Steffy: “You’re a fake, a fraud, just another slut from the Valley.”
Hope: “You can’t fire me.”
Steffy: “The hell I can’t.”
Hope: “I grew up here! This is part of my legacy, too. Me, my mother, my family, we have all helped this business right alongside you. Your opinion of me means nothing.”
Except that Steffy is co-CEO of the family company, so her opinion means everything. There was no explaining away Steffy finding the scantily-clad Hope on top of her husband and there probably shouldn’t be. “Sorry, I meant to seduce the COO, not the co-CEO’s husband” is not a defense even if they had let Hope explain… which they didn’t. In a real office, taking your clothes off is a fireable offense.
Ridge and Steffy confiscated Hope’s badge and had her escorted out of the building.
Taylor: “It had to be done.”
Who is Taylor to weigh in on a Forrester company matter? Was it “Bring your ex-wife to work” day? Miss me with that. The only person recognizing the magnitude of this controversial firing was Ridge.
Ridge: “We have to talk to Katie. She’s head of PR and marketing.”
Steffy: “She’s still a Logan.”
Ridge: “Can we not do that now?”
Yes, enough with the Logan insults. Brooke invented the BeLieF formula, the men’s line and Brooke’s Bedroom lingerie, which all rake in big dough. Katie has been a loyal employee for decades. Hope’s judgement was faulty here, but it’s not like every Forrester hasn’t had sex in the office — including Ridge, who had a romp with Brooke on the lab floor when she was married to the company founder, aka his father Eric.
Pots, meet kettle.
Carter made a vow that looked like a solid repercussion (“They’re not going to get away with this!”), and Brooke put Ridge on notice, too.
Brooke: “You need to support me. Those seats at the table are not just reserved for your children.”
Ridge: “This is about your daughter making bad choices — and the consequences.”
You want a consequence? Brooke should take the money from the patent on the BeLieF formula (which she still owns) and start a new company with Hope, Katie and Carter. Suggested name: Logan’s Revenge.
It’s still unclear if Y&R’s Sharon killed Heather, but we do know that she framed Daniel for it, and have good reason to expect that Phyllis will get her revenge.
Daniel: “There’s no evidence Sharon did this.”
Phyllis: “Yet.”
Phyllis got in Sharon’s face, saying she had proof she killed Heather, but later admitted to Daniel that was a lie.
Phyllis: “You put enough pressure on a nut it’s bound to crack. I’m going to be relentless.”
Daniel: “When are you not?”
That’s Phyllis’s best quality! And maybe I’m just in a bad place with authoritative men lately, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Jill force Billy to apologize to Lily.
Lily: “Skip the phony charm, it just makes me more suspicious.”
Billy: “The company needs you back.”
He asked for a chance to fix things and apologized for treating her so badly.
Lily: “You fired me. You called me a liability. You threw my past in my face. I’m not going to work with you again.”
Billy continued his entreaties until they were interrupted by Phyllis, who begged Billy for a job for the 100th time. Relentless!
It’s less effective when actions don’t have consequences. All of a sudden, DAYS’s Xander wants to kill people who displease him and there’s been zero blowback. First Brady, now a plot to kill Philip.
Xander: “He’s my brother, but he’s brought me nothing but grief.”
Kristen: “This is a little drastic.”
Ya think? Where’s the rooting value in a man whose solution to every routine obstacle is murder?
And how many fake letters are people going to produce re: Victor’s “wishes” for Titan? Konstantin claimed Alex was the heir, it turned out to be Xander, now here comes Philip with another counterfeit claim that no one seems to be vetting.
Vivian: “I have a letter from Victor stating his intention was to leave the estate to Philip.”
Kate: “Where would you get a letter like that? Unless you forged it.”
Vivian: “You implicate me, you implicate Philip. Come back to the dark side, Kate.”
Ooh, that’s good. If anyone deserves to be swindled with a fake letter, it’s that “miscreant” Xander (as Vivian calls him).
Speaking of being swindled, GH’s Holly kept Robert and Sasha from knowing they were father and daughter and her explanation for not raising Sasha was worse.
Holly: “I was not cut out for making lunches or walking my daughter to the bus stop.”
Robert: “It’s not 1952, Holly.”
Holly: “I left Sasha with my mother and supported them financially.”
Robert: “Most ethical con woman in the business!”
Holly fooled around and found out when Sidwell came to PC looking for the stolen diamonds and kidnapped Sasha to get them back.
Prior to being kidnapped, Sasha had to come clean to her “best friend” about Holly.
Sasha: “Turns out, Cody and I are first cousins. I found out Robert Scorpio is my father.”
Willow: “Back up.”
Willow reminded Sasha how they discussed their “dead” mothers and realized she didn’t know her bestie at all. And how dare Sasha tell Cody her secrets? Now it was Sasha’s turn to say back up.
Sasha: “Everything that happened was because you kissed Drew. If you’re so concerned with trust and honesty, look in the mirror. You’ve got no one to blame but yourself.”
Taking a page from Nina’s book! Yes, Nina blabbed to the SEC, but Drew and Carly were the ones who committed the crime. Ditto Willow. There’s enough blame to go around, but put it where it belongs.
Which brings us to Drew and Willow upping the ante on their kissing and having grief sex in his motherless daughter’s playroom. I’ve been griping for months that characters never use the tracking on their phones when, lo and behold, Michael got a notification on his phone with a link to video of his wife and his uncle rolling around naked!
Willow: “What are you looking at?”
An action that will definitely have a consequence!
