It’s Fall in Springfield!
Weekly gave you the goods with a hefty GUIDING LIGHT fall preview in the Sept. 9 issue, but if you want more scoop, here are some extra sneak peeks from head writer Jill Lorie Hurst.
Soap Opera Weekly: If you could describe this fall’s content in three words, what would they be?
Jill Horie Hurst: Romantic, life-changing journeys. Sorry, that’s really four words!
Weekly: Will Josh find love elsewhere now that Reva is sticking with Jeffrey?
Hurst: Josh has had a year full of change. He will be rethinking everything about his life in the months to come. While he knows in his heart of hearts that Reva will always be the girl for him, he gets that she’s happy right now and he doesn’t want to mess with that. As for other romance, any woman in town would go out with Josh, given the chance, but he will be too preoccupied with family matters to spend a lot of time on romance.
Weekly: Speaking of romance, will Cyrus cling to Cassie for love now that he’s positive Harley isn’t coming back?
Hurst: Cyrus understands how hard it is for Cassie to separate him from Grady. Part of him wants to be a part of her healing process and bring some fun into her life, and part of him knows he should keep his distance.
Weekly: Any chance he and Marina will revisit their romance?
Hurst: He and Marina will always feel that romantic pull, but she’s happy with Mallet.
Weekly: Viewers enjoyed seeing Elizabeth Keifer (Blake) onscreen. Will she have any juicy story (maybe a fling?) this fall?
Hurst: We love our Blake. We’re always looking for possible love interests for her. It would be interesting to see her approach love in a different way than she has in the past, maybe with more thought and less impulse — but then she wouldn’t be Blake!
Weekly: What are the chances for new couples this fall — specifically, Rick and Olivia, and Frank and Natalia?
Hurst: Did Michael (O’Leary, Rick) and Frank (Dicopoulos, Frank) pay you to ask that question? I’d love to send them on a double date. They’re all very funny, and it would be so cute to see them together. Actually, Rick will help Olivia through some health issues and Frank will continue to be Nat’s adoring friend, but both women have a lot of other things going on right now, like kids, health, money and career.
Weekly: Is Bill finally serious about doing right by Lizzie?
Hurst: Bill is close to letting down his guard. A million obstacles will get in the way of their happily-ever-after, but these two will fight hard for each other in the months to come.
Weekly: We hear things will spice up for Buzz and Lillian.
Hurst: They will face family challenges. Thank goodness they have each other. We have lots of ideas for them, so stay tuned.
Weekly: What about Ashlee and Coop? Will they get back together?
Hurst: The romance is over, but they will always come through for each other and may be called to do that in the near future. Coop will be challenged by his teaching and writing, and Ashlee is busy at WSPR, which could bring some interesting changes into her life.
Weekly: Last but not least, will we finally see more of Alex?
Hurst: We love Alex and have a couple of ideas for her that could take hold over the next few months. She and Dinah have formed an interesting alliance. Maybe we’ll see them working together in the future.
