Hank Northrop, Son Of Wayne Northrop And Lynn Herring, Books DAYS Role!

The Family Way: Hank Northrop, son of DAYS alumni Wayne Northrop and Lynn Herring, is following in his parents’ Salem footsteps.
Exciting news for longtime soap fans: Hank Northrop, son of not one but two daytime icons — the late Wayne Northrop, who is best known for originating the role of Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives, and Lynn Herring, who stars on General Hospital as Lucy Coe and had her own brief run in Salem as Lisanne Gardner in 1992 — is joining the show in a new role. TV Insider was the first to report the news of Northrop’s hiring.
Honor Role
Northrop shared with TV Insider that he first auditioned for the show shortly after his father’s passing in November 2024. Then, on his birthday (January 9), “I got the call saying, ‘Congratulations, you’ve booked Days of our Lives.’ And I just immediately broke down in tears. It was so cosmic. It was almost like my dad had given me a birthday present, the first birthday after his passing, to help me through the trauma of dealing with his passing.”
The show is keeping the details of Northrop’s character under wraps for now, but the actor was at liberty to reveal that he’ll be sharing his debut scenes with none other than James Reynolds, whose Abe Carver was the police partner and close friend of his father’s Roman. Northrop described their on-set meeting as emotional, noting, “We honestly couldn’t stop hugging each other…. he was just like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you’re Wayne’s son. This is the best thing. I’m so excited.’ ”
The actor — whose previous credits include The Morning Show, where he acted opposite Reese Witherspoon, and had just finished filming on the upcoming Michelle Pfeiffer-headlining series The Madison for Paramount before he was cast on DAYS — also reported that his mother was, unsurprisingly, over the moon when she found out that her son had booked a Salem gig. “She is ecstatic,” Northrop said. “She gave me so much great advice before my first day.”
Through the pain of losing his father, and Herring losing her husband, the DAYS job has been a bright spot, Northrop noted, calling it “just such a healing moment…. I’m just so honored now to get to honor my own father on the show that he loved so much.”
