Harley and Gus had a talk with Daisy, telling her that Sydney’s adoption
hearing could not be rescheduled and asked her if she’d testify on their
behalf. Daisy tried to make excuses about why she didn’t want to go to court,
admitting that she was fearful of messing up. She was also worried that
Harley would find out about her being in Gillespie’s car when it hit Tammy.
In private, Gus reassured his stepdaughter that everything should blow over
because he had paid Gillespie a little visit in the hospital and threatened
him to keep his mouth shut. When Daisy tried to leave the house, Gus told
her not too; Harley became suspicious of Gus’s uneasy demeanor. Gus
claimed he just thought Harley and Daisy needed some quality mother/daughter
time; she bought it.

On Main Street, Daisy ran into a wayward skater named Ziggy, who tried to
flirt with her. When she told him to show off a skateboard trick, she
snagged some mysterious red pills from his backpack. Later, Harley came home
to find Daisy, bombed out of her mind, listening to loud music and eating
tons of junk food; she demanded to know what was up. Daisy feigned that she
was just sad and had been crying, hence her “messed up” eyes.

At the Lewis house, Billy showed up to visit and asked where Cassie was but
Josh honestly couldn’t tell him; she was pretending that everything was
okay, but was taking pills that the doctor had prescribed to her so he hoped
that would help. “Cassie’s about to fall apart and there’s nothing I can do
about it,” he added. Billy encouraged Josh that he was doing the best he
could to comfort Cassie. After Josh admitted that he himself is the family’s rock, he began to break down and cry. Billy tried to relate by explaining how he felt
while taking care of Reva during her cancer, reassuring Josh that you can be
scared and still be strong. The brothers hugged and Billy took Josh to the
church, explaining that sometimes you need to ask for help to keep you
strong. He added, “If you believe in the light and find it, it will guide you
home.”

At the police station, Alan was livid and railed at Frank as he waited for
questioning, then Cassie suddenly entered, much to Alan’s surprise. Alan
claimed he was tired and didn’t really feel like talking, but Cassie let him
have it, reminding him that she’d been having trouble sleeping then shared a
story about how she woke up in the middle of the night panicking because she
thought she’d forgotten Tammy’s birthday, but soon came to the realize that
her daughter was actually dead. “Stop spitting on Tammy’s memory and just
admit what you did,” Cassie demanded. Alan said he wished he could go back
and change the events of the fatal night, accidentally confessing his
involvement; Frank overheard. Alan just said he misspoke because he was
tired. Before Cassie left, Alan made sure she knew that he was helping Reva
to get Josh back; She scowled and departed. Later, Gus arrived to grill his
Pops, trying to show him just how much evidence was stacked up against him.
Gus suggested Alan confess for Sarah, for Phillip and for them as father and
son! Then asked Alan if he was going to just be the same old and lonely Alan
Spaulding, or if he was going to buck up and be a real man. Alan refused to
confess, then started to put the blame on Beth and Lizzie; Gus was appalled.

Back at the Lewis manse, Cassie told Josh she’d visited Alan and informed
him about Alan’s deal with Reva to break Josh and Cassie up. Visibly hurt,
Josh was forced to tell Cassie it wasn’t one of Alan’s lies, then he
confessed to a shocked Cassie about Reva’s cancer-scare and that they had
kissed; Cassie lost it. Josh grabbed her and gave a very emotional plea
reminding Cassie that he truly loves her and only her. After they
reconciled, Cassie worried that Alan wouldn’t get punished for what
he did; Josh assured her Alan would pay.

In Gillespie’s room at Cedars, Doris came to visit him to strike a deal,
guaranteeing he’d be freed from charges if he just agreed to follow her
lead. Later, a reluctant Gillespie agreed to sign a confession, giving Doris
Alan and securing his own freedom.

At the end of the episode, Doris paid Alan a visit in the slammer and showed
him a document that she claimed was bad enough to put him away for the rest
of his life; he freaked, but Doris told him to not worry, all hope wasn’t
lost.
