General Hospital Recap: Willow Takes Office, Michael Gets Big News, Trina and Kai Clash and More

Comments

Some harsh realizations were made on the Monday, March 2 episode of General Hospital! The PCPD made a big decision about the investigation into Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting; Laura (Genie Francis) was issued a warning by Ezra (temporarily played by Patrick Scott Lewis) as Congresswoman Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) assumed her new office; Tracy (Jane Elliot) gave Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) food for thought; Ned (Wally Kurth) read Chase (Josh Swickard) the riot act; Sonny (Maurice Benard) made his intentions known to Justine (Nazneen Contractor), and Curtis (Donnell Turner) had a change of heart over a connection to Portia (Brook Kerr). Check out what happened below!

Skeleton Key

Kai was called to the PCPD, where Dante, Nathan, and Justine questioned him about who possibly had keys to the Cain residence. When Justine specifically asked if Michael might have had a key, Kai was confident that neither Michael nor Wiley would have had one. Justine then asked whether anyone else could have given Michael a key, but Kai replied that there wasn’t. After sharing a look with Justine and Nathan, Dante dismissed Kai, and once he was gone, Justine groused that their final lead in determining whether Michael could have access to Drew’s home just hit a dead end. Nathan conceded that perhaps Ric had been right about someone planting the key on Michael’s keychain, but when Justine snapped that it had been Chase, Dante said he believed Chase’s claim that he didn’t do it. Since they couldn’t definitively prove that Chase planted the key or prove that Michael was the shooter, Justine declared the investigation a cold case, even though she was sure Willow had been the right suspect. With a shrug, Dante sighed that with double jeopardy attached, Willow would walk around as a free woman, and Justine added incredulously, “And as our new Congresswoman.”

Willow wheeled Drew over to his — now her — office for a photo op, and when Laura stopped by, the photographer asked the mayor to join the Cains for a picture. After they were done with the photo shoot, Laura offered to help Willow through the transition, hoping that they could work together better than she had with Drew. Then, Mayor Collins asked Congresswoman Cain point-blank if she planned to use her position to represent the people or settle her own scores. Laura was relieved when Willow replied that she planned to serve her constituents. Addressing Drew, Laura wished him a speedy recovery, and he glanced between his wife and the mayor. Ezra then showed up, stopping by to welcome Willow, and Kai arrived soon after.

Stepping out into the hallway with Ezra, Laura told him that if he was there with instructions for Willow from Sidwell, he needed to back off because it was too soon and too transparent for her to be Sidwell’s mouthpiece. Ezra claimed Laura wasn’t doing Willow any good by trying to keep the newly minted congresswoman away from Sidwell’s influence. Bringing up what happened to Dalton after the professor pushed back against Sidwell, Ezra advised Laura not to put Willow — or herself — in harm’s way. Then, Ezra surprised Laura when he confided that he didn’t realize how far Sidwell’s reach was until it was too late, and he, too, was coerced into doing things he didn’t want to do. Now he was deeper into Sidwell’s pockets than he ever thought he’d be.

Back inside the office, Kai informed Willow that he’d been questioned by the PCPD about the possibility of Michael having a key to the house, which caught Drew’s attention. Kai added that he’d sensed A.D.A. Turner, Commissioner Falconeri, and Detective West were frustrated that they’d been unable to find any new evidence. Willow declared that was unfortunate since she still wanted the world to know who shot her husband, and Kai glanced across the room at Drew. Then, Kai told Willow he’d help with the transition in her hiring of new interns, but she asked him to stay on staff.

Power Trip

After Kai left, the mayor and the councilman met with Willow, and Ezra suggested that a well-connected donor like Jenz Sidwell would be an asset to Willow’s administration. When Laura piped in that she didn’t think the voters wanted a power player with a fat wallet guiding their representatives, Ezra scoffed that he’d really hoped Laura would have learned how to play the game by now. Declaring that she wasn’t one to fall in line, Laura looked at Congresswoman Cain and stated that she didn’t think Willow would be, either. Laura and Ezra then headed out, but once they got into the hallway, Ezra chastised the mayor for not listening to anything he’d said earlier. He pleaded with her to get Willow aligned with Sidwell’s agenda ASAP for everyone’s sake.

Alone with Drew, Willow grumbled that, since the PCPD dropped their investigation, her plan to get sole custody of Wiley and Amelia wasn’t panning out the way she’d hoped. That was probably for the best, Willow added, so the police didn’t find evidence against her. She smiled that her circumstances had changed for the better, and her new position would be a far better use of her time.

Change Of Heart

At the Ashford home, Curtis and Portia informed Trina that as part of their divorce, they were going to sell the house. She was upset that they weren’t going to be a family any longer, but both parents assured her that their family was just going to look different now, but they’d always support each other. Lucy showed up to do the real estate listing, and while Curtis took her upstairs to walk through the updates, Trina cried to her mother that she wasn’t expecting the house to go on the market so quickly. Curtis descended the stairs as Trina and Portia recounted all the memories they’d shared in the home and lamented how strange it was going to be for the house to not be theirs any longer. Hiding behind the wall to listen to their conversation, he grew contemplative as Portia told Trina that they’d have their memories forever, and although her and Curtis’s dream of growing their family looked different, it was still coming true.

Lucy came back downstairs, raving about the updates to the home, and Trina then stepped outside to wait for Kai, who texted that he was on the way. Lucy excitedly told Curtis and Portia that the waterfront property would sell quickly. However, when it came time to sign the contract, Curtis hesitated. After flashing back to the day they put an offer in on the house, he told Lucy that he couldn’t go through with it.

Outside, Kai updated Trina on his conversation with the PCPD, noting that it sounded to him like they’d found a key to Drew’s house in Michael’s possession. They agreed that Willow might possibly have planted the key on her ex-husband. Trina said she was glad Kai had resigned, and was angry when he revealed that he’d accepted Willow’s offer to stay on as an intern so he could keep an eye on Drew… and Willow. Frustrated, Trina demanded to know at what point he planned to walk away.

A Rock And A Hard Place

Over tea, Tracy told Brook Lynn that she felt Chase’s crusade against Michael was creating too much discord among the family, and the constant arguing between them was unacceptable. Since she wasn’t about to ask Michael to move out, Tracy wanted to know how long Brook Lynn planned to referee the fight between her husband and her family. Acknowledging that it was difficult to be stuck in the middle between Chase and Michael, Brook Lynn said she had to support her husband. Tracy accused Chase of actively trying to make sure Michael was blamed for the shooting, but Brook Lynn stated that she believed Chase when he said he didn’t plant the key on Michael. Brook Lynn added that she’d even told Chase he crossed a line with the whole key thing, and she wouldn’t move forward with their adoption plans unless he dropped the matter. Though happy to hear that Chase had agreed, Tracy asked if Brook Lynn considered that he was only telling her what he thought she wanted to hear, but Brook Lynn was confident that once they adopted their baby, the situation would be a distant memory.

Meanwhile, in the foyer, Ned grilled Chase about putting Willow above Brook Lynn, adding that his vendetta against Michael was hurting his daughter’s well-being. Chase denied that he had a vendetta, insisting that he had to pursue the possibility that Michael was the shooter after Willow was arrested for a crime she hadn’t committed. Ned replied that Chase chose to pursue it. Further defending himself, Chase told his father-in-law that he and Brook Lynn had had many conversations about Willow, and their relationship was stronger as a result. Unconvinced that Brook Lynn was truly okay with the way Chase had been dogging Michael, Ned was afraid there was no end in sight for Brook Lynn feeling torn between her husband and the rest of her family. While Chase maintained that putting Brook Lynn in a bad position was the last thing he wanted to do, Ned retorted that the optics made it appear that Chase was putting Willow above his marriage. Declaring that his wife was the most important person in his life, Chase promised to fix things with the family immediately because he’d always choose Brook Lynn.

Tracy and Brook Lynn then came out of the living room, and Chase surprised his wife with a date night. After the couple exited, Ned told his mother that Chase had taken his advice regarding Willow, but Tracy remained skeptical. Despite Brook Lynn’s assurance that Chase was giving up his rogue pursuits in favor of adopting, Tracy told Ned that she knew firsthand how manipulative Willow could be, and that made her very concerned for Brook Lynn.

Later, Chase and Brook Lynn were out on a romantic stroll when he declared his love for his wife, and they shared a passionate kiss. But then, something across the street caught Brook Lynn’s eye, and she gasped, “Oh my God!”

Full Steam Ahead

Kristina invited Michael, Jacinda, and Sonny to the new Charlie’s Pub, which her dad had generously paid to have renovated, and she planned to reopen it soon. Stunned to hear from the trio that her mom had been passed over for Congress in favor of Willow, Kristina asked her dad if Laura had given any indication that she’d changed her mind about appointing Alexis. Replying that the mayor must have had her reasons, even if he didn’t agree with her opinion, Sonny figured Laura would make things right with Alexis. Michael worried that Willow would use her new position to ensure he was charged with attempted murder.

Next, Kristina raged to Sonny about how unfair it was that Willow was appointed to Congress while Michael was being investigated, but her dad encouraged her not to feed into her brother’s anger and make the situation worse for the sake of the kids. Still, Kristina feared that Michael would lose the children if he were charged and found guilty. Sonny assured her that Michael would never be prosecuted for shooting Drew because he’d handle it. Across the bar, Michael told Jacinda that he had concerns about Willow taking the new position, but Jacinda thought that maybe Willow would surprise them all by standing on her own for the first time in her life. Then, Michael received a phone call that Dante wanted to see him at the police station, so Kristina gave Jacinda a ride home. Sonny stayed behind, promising to lock up, and called Justine to meet him. Once she got to the pub, she informed Sonny that the investigation into Drew’s shooting was being shelved. Since Michael was no longer a suspect, she said, he could stop pretending to be interested in her. “I’m not pretending,” Sonny informed her.

Back at the PCPD, Dante told Michael that Turner had decided to drop the investigation into Drew’s shooting. The brothers both admitted they were relieved, but Dante cautioned that while there was no clear path to proving Michael’s guilt, there was also no path to clearing his name, so he’d always be under suspicion in the court of public opinion.

Is Laura finally realizing that she needs to play by Sidwell’s rules? Should Sonny explore a romance with Justine? What do you think Brook Lynn spotted on the street? Share your predictions about what will happen next on GH in the comments below!
