General Hospital Recap: Trina & Kai Go to Alexis About Willow, Jason & Carly Face Off With Drew and More

Comments

Things got heated on the January 9 episode of General Hospital!  Brad (Parry Shen) got into a spat with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) over her rekindled romance, Tracy (Jane Elliot) blasted Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) for tricking her in court, Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) had different opinions on what to do with the fact that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was lying, Jacinda (Paige Herschell) and Michael (Rory Gibson) had a long-overdue conversation about her omission of truth, and Carly (Laura Wright) and Jason (Steve Burton) had a tense run-in with Drew (Cameron Mathison). Keep on reading for all the details!

Repeating History?

Visiting Britt at G.H., Brad asked how she spent New Year’s Eve/her birthday. She flashed back to her kiss with Jason and tried to avoid giving Brad a direct answer but eventually revealed that she was trying to have a personal life with someone who could give her what her gay bestie could not. Brad screeched when he deduced that Britt had spent the night with Jason. Britt went on to share that after an honest conversation, she and Jason had shared an amazing kiss before they were interrupted by Tracy, and she probably would have slept with him that night, given the chance.

When Brad reminded her that Jason broke her heart once upon a time and she’d never be a priority for him, Britt countered that things were different now. Unconvinced, Brad feared the honorable hitman would try to turn his scheming pal into a truth-telling automaton. Still, he promised to fulfill all his best-friend duties when Jason inevitably broke Britt’s heart once again. “I’ll have ice cream at the ready, and I won’t say that I told you so,” he told her.

Luke Warm

Laura filled Sonny in about the jealousy between Lucy and Ava over Sidwell, which she believed they could use to their advantage. Sonny suspected the businessman was cozying up to Ava mainly because she was the mother of his child, and Laura told him about the threats Sidwell made about Ace. Reassuring Laura that she was wise to send Ace out of the country, Sonny mused that Sidwell would intimidate their family members to get what he wanted out of them. Laura again apologized for dragging Sonny and his family into her mess, but he maintained to his friend that she did the right thing by calling him the night she found Dalton’s body.

Next, Sonny said if they made sure to look at all the angles and stay one step ahead, they could still use Lucy and Ava’s rivalry against Sidwell, prompting Laura to tearfully confide that he sounded a lot like Luke. Laura revealed that her first instinct that terrible night had been to call her ex-husband. Since Luke had managed to untangle himself from organized crime, Laura mused, she couldn’t help but think he might have been able to help them figure a way out of Sidwell’s clutches if he were still around. Announcing that he missed Luke too, Sonny joked that he could use his old friend for backup, then told Laura that they just needed to bide their time and wait for Sidwell to make a mistake.

Kiss And Make Up

Michael arrived home to find Jacinda waiting for him to say good-bye. She wanted him to return the backpack of money to Kristina since it didn’t feel right keeping it after she made things worse for him in court. In hindsight, Jacinda realized, trying to get her to leave town was Kristina’s way of telling her that Alexis planned to question her about Ezra. Michael wanted to know why she’d never mentioned Ezra before, so Jacinda explained that she took a booking from the councilman in between her initial drink with Michael that night and when he came back asking her to be his alibi. But as they began spending more time together, Jacinda added, she feared he’d dump her if she came clean about Ezra. Even though she knew they would never last, Jacinda had wanted to know what it was like to date Michael, and she figured no one would ever find out about her business with Ezra since he was always so careful to protect his political career. Although relieved that Michael believed her, Jacinda still intended to leave town, but he managed to convince her to stay after declaring that their fake relationship now felt very real and she’d been his one bright spot throughout the entire ordeal.

Sorry, Not Sorry

At Miller & Davis, Alexis was working on her closing arguments when Tracy stormed in. Blasting Alexis for tricking her in court, she demanded to know who the attorney had spying on the Quartermaine family. Pointing out that all she had done was bluff and Tracy fell for it, Alexis opined that Tracy’s guilty conscience made her jump to the wrong conclusion, and she was lucky she didn’t perjure herself. They continued to squabble, with Tracy accusing Alexis of selling Michael down the river to get her granddaughter back and Alexis snapping that Tracy lied to protect Michael, knowing he very well may have shot Drew. At Alexis’s declaration that an innocent woman was now on trial, Tracy scoffed that Willow was anything but innocent. “She has perfected and weaponized the sweet and meek act,” Tracy asserted before Alexis kicked her out so she could finalize her summation.

Blowing Smoke

Drew and Willow celebrated her imminent freedom at the Port Charles Grill while Jason and Carly dined across the restaurant. Sending daggers at the Cains from across the room, Carly confided in Jason that she was worried the jury would acquit Willow, and Turner would then go after Michael. Jason replied that while he believed Michael was capable of shooting Drew, he didn’t think Michael was the one who actually did it. Despite Jason’s confidence, Carly fretted that Alexis was practically building the prosecution’s case, adding that they both knew innocent people go to prison all the time. Jason replied that Drew was a bigger concern, since it was clear he was after Michael. He and Carly agreed that even if Willow was acquitted, Drew would stop at nothing to make sure Michael was found guilty.

To his wife, Drew explained away his outrage on the stand as proof of how much he cared for Willow, and she called his testimony “perfect” because it convinced Alexis to call her as a witness so she could profess her innocence and let everyone know how much she loved him. Continuing to stroke her husband’s overinflated ego, Willow professed that Drew was brave and good compared to his “frightening, hitman brother,” and bemoaned how she’d been treated so horribly by Carly the night of their failed wedding. Willow cried that she’d been begging for mercy that night, only for Carly and Michael to ignore her. Playing right into Willow’s innocent act, Drew vowed to his wife that Michael would soon be the one begging for mercy. Angered by the thought of Willow outside Carly’s house begging to see her children, Drew stood up and declared that it was time to make Carly grovel.

Despite Willow’s attempts to get him to stay seated, Drew hobbled over to Carly and Jason’s table. First, he picked a fight with Jason over the restraining order against Danny. Then, as Willow watched from across the restaurant, Drew gloated to Carly that once his wife was proven innocent, Michael would be prosecuted and Wiley and Amelia would be back home with him and Willow. “And I can’t wait for you to come over begging to see your grandkids, and I will feel nothing but pleasure when I slam that door right in your face,” he taunted. Telling Drew to go to hell, Carly shoved him, causing the congressman to spill his drink all over himself and Jason.

Between A Rock And A Hard Place

Going over what they knew about the night of Drew’s shooting, Kai and Trina agreed that all the evidence pointed to Willow, especially now that they knew the “Twinkle, Twinkle” tune they heard was her ringtone for Wiley. Trina insisted they had to go to the police, but Kai disagreed, pointing out that the multiple laws they’d broken would come to light if they shared what they knew. Trina wondered if Turner would give them immunity, but Kai feared that if they came forward, Drew would retaliate against them. Realizing that Willow’s actions had been premeditated and that she’d lied on the witness stand, Kai and Trina decided they had to do something before she was acquitted and therefore could not be tried again. So, they headed to Miller & Davis and informed Alexis that they knew who had shot Drew!
