General Hospital Recap: Sonny And Laura Unite Against Dalton, Carly Plays Jack And More

Comments

Plans were put into motion on the November 18 episode of General Hospital. Carly (Laura Wright) extended a faux olive branch to Jack (Chris McKenna), Sonny (Maurice Benard) hinted to Laura (Genie Francis) that he would protect their grandson, Britt (Kelly Theibaud) vowed to incinerate Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) project, and when Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) confessed to their part in the lab break-in, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Ric (Rick Hearst) unveiled their strategy to save all three teens. Keep on reading to see how it all went down.

The Great Pretender

Carly surprised Jack at his room at the Metro Court to gift him a bottle of wine he’d previously ordered, and he insisted on sharing the vino with her since they hadn’t seen much of one another lately. When Jack revealed that he’d felt a distance between them lately, Carly claimed that she was hurt he hadn’t told her Vaughn was a WSB agent, and when she was hurt, she pulled back. Jack approached her to offer comfort, and Carly, whose back was to him, closed her eyes and cringed when he placed his hands on her shoulders. She replied to Jack’s apology by acknowledging that sometimes things just have to be a certain way — her words laced with double meaning since she’s secretly working with Valentin to bring Brennan down.

As far as Jack knew, the couple worked through their issues when Carly tearfully assured him that she could accept who he is and that the wine was an excuse to come see him because she didn’t have the guts to tell him she was ready to put everything behind them. Jack gave her one more opportunity to back out, but Carly whispered, “Oh, I’m not gonna back out,” before pulling him in for a heated kiss. However, once they moved over to the couch, Carly looked sick to her stomach as Jack kissed her neck. She urged him to answer his phone when the device began ringing. After he informed the other person that he’d call them back from the secure line in his office, Carly gave Jack a kiss good-bye and left. Once out in the hallway, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, shaking off the part she’d had to portray.

Family First

Meeting with Sonny in her office, Laura confided that she feared her verbal lashing (and smack!) of Professor Dalton at the voting poll may have put an end to her political career. She was pleasantly surprised when Sonny informed her that her constituents were behind her, impressed with her fire in the way she defended her grandson, but Laura still worried that her behavior may have cost her the election. And, Laura added, losing didn’t just mean handing the city over to Ezra Boyle; it meant handing Port Charles to Sidwell, too. Sonny pointed out that the way Dalton manhandled their teenage grandson was slimy, and neither one of them believed that Rocco would have destroyed the lab.

Their conversation turned to their belief that Dalton framed their grandson, and Sonny shared that Acting District Attorney Turner told him that the professor had come forward privately with photographs of the damage. Laura noted that destruction had never been mentioned while Dalton was trying to have Rocco arrested and wondered how charges were filed if the PCPD hadn’t yet verified the evidence. Sonny replied that, according to Turner, she didn’t want to appear to be favoring Rocco, considering the teen’s family ties, so she felt she had to pursue the new charges despite the plea deal Ric had in place. Then, Sonny divulged that normally he wouldn’t trust Ric, but given how hell-bent Ric was at making peace between them, he was putting his faith in his brother to bring Rocco home. Laura was momentarily distracted when she began receiving election results, but then told Sonny that she couldn’t stop thinking about Rocco all alone in the detention center. Sonny replied that their grandson might not be there for long. “Dalton could change his story, or somebody could change it for him,” Sonny teased, leading Laura to furrow her brow in concern.

Determination Station

Charlotte and Danny went to the PCPD to turn themselves in for being with Rocco during the lab break-in. Nathan began to take their statements, but when the detective asked why they suspected Prof. Dalton was conducting illegal tests on animals, Danny declined to answer. In addition to explaining how Rocco caused a diversion to protect them, Charlotte and Danny professed that they hadn’t destroyed the lab. After recording Danny and Charlotte’s confession, Nathan stepped out of the interrogation room and asked one of the officers for Jason’s phone number.

Meanwhile, Lulu went to Dante’s office to see if he’d heard anything about how Rocco was doing at the juvenile detention center and was shocked to learn that the lab break-in had been Emma and Gio’s idea. Dante added that he blamed himself for Gio dragging Rocco into the mess since he’d spent the past few months trying to set things right with his older son after blaming Gio for Rocco’s alcohol poisoning. “If I had kept Gio at an arm’s length, he wouldn’t have gotten close enough to Rocco to potentially ruin his life,” Dante frowned. The acting commissioner felt bad for how hard he’d come down on Gio for roping Rocco into Emma’s plan, especially now that they knew they were father and son, but Lulu pointed out that all of the kids were to blame, since they chose to get involved. The exes agreed that once the dust settled and Rocco was home, they were going to have to deal with the fact that their son and Charlotte had kept several secrets from them. Nathan then knocked on the office door, informing Dante and Lulu that there was a problem with Charlotte.

Begging For Favors

Trying to have Rocco bailed out of the mess he was in, Britt invited Jason to her room and begged him to have Danny corroborate Rocco’s story. Even after Britt told him that Dalton was lying about the vandalized lab, Jason didn’t want to put his son at risk. He stayed calm as Britt worked herself up, ranting that Charlotte and Danny were equally guilty and Rocco wouldn’t have to face the consequences alone if the other two backed up his story.

After Jason asked if she’d spoken with Dante and Lulu about Charlotte, Britt huffed that they hated her and talking to them would make things worse. Then, Jason explained to Britt why getting his son involved would give Drew ammunition to put Danny in prison. He also shared that Michael was scarred in ways he’d never heal from after his time in Pentonville, and he didn’t want that to happen to Danny. When Britt cried that she didn’t want that to happen to Rocco, Jason revealed that he didn’t want that either, so they needed a plan to save him. Britt exhaled a sigh of relief, then asked Jason if he’d talk to Dante and Lulu. But before he could give her an answer, Nathan called Jason to come to the PCPD for a situation regarding Danny.

The Parent Trap

While waiting for Nathan to come back, Charlotte and Danny anxiously wondered if they were doing the right thing for Rocco by turning themselves in. “Rocco sacrificed himself for us. We’re just doing the same thing,” Danny declared, trying to boost up both himself and Charlotte. “Right. How bad could juvie be?” Charlotte nervously laughed just as the door to the interrogation room opened and Nathan entered with Jason, Lulu, and Dante behind him. Nathan then told Charlotte and Danny that he was rusty on procedures, and since they were both minors, parents needed to be present at the time a statement was given — so what they’d told him earlier was inadmissible. Jumping out of his seat, Danny yelled that they’d confessed for nothing, and Charlotte accused the police of being untrustworthy, even when she was trying to do the right thing. Lulu declared the entire matter over, but Charlotte and Danny decided to confess again “for real” since their parents were present. “Absolutely not,” Jason ordered as Lulu warned the teens that they were being given a very generous second chance. “And we are not gonna let you blow it,” Dante stressed.

Bargaining Chip

Ric tried to barter with Alexis — Portia’s motive for shooting Drew in exchange for Danny coming forward on Rocco’s behalf — but she refused to risk Danny’s freedom until she knew what Ric had on Portia. He insisted his strategy would keep both boys out of trouble, but Alexis didn’t believe him. Ric swore that he was a changed man after his month in captivity, but she still demanded Portia’s motive. Relenting, Ric explained how he’d had two tests run on Heather Webber when he’d represented her, and that the lab results from G.H. showed toxic levels of cobalt poisoning, conflicting with the report of an independent lab. Alexis connected the dots to why Portia would want to keep Heather in prison in order to protect Trina, but at first didn’t see the correlation to the doctor attempting to kill Drew.

After the exes played a hypothetical game about blackmail, Alexis realized that Drew had found out Portia had changed Heather’s tests and had been holding it over the doctor’s head. Now armed with a theory that would cast doubt on Willow’s guilt in court, Alexis considered Ric’s pitch about Rocco and Danny but warned that it wasn’t going to be easy since his idea hinged on the other witnesses cooperating, with the consent of their parents. Just then, Jason called Alexis and asked her to meet him at the PCPD since Danny was determined to go down with Rocco. Informing Ric that she suspected Danny was about to make their case for them by confessing, the two attorneys headed to the police station.

Scorched Earth

Marco returned to Spoon Island after attending Rocco’s arraingment and informed his father about the escalated charges against Rocco, thanks to Dalton. Sidwell was angry that the lab was now the focus of unwanted attention. Marco suggested his father request assistance from the guy he’s running the operation with, but Sidwell insisted his partner’s identity was on a need-to-know basis. Instead, he wanted Marco to concentrate on implementing changes to the program, which includes Britt overseeing Dalton. Then, when Sidwell mentioned that Britt wanted to run things herself, Marco questioned whether that was a good idea since Dalton had seen too much. Plus, Marco added, Dalton has proven he’s not above taking matters into his own hands when he feels he’s been wronged, so it might be best not to anger him further. “If he goes away, so do our problems,” smirked Sidwell. Marco asked his father to clarify that statement, but before he could, Britt arrived, demanding to speak with Sidwell privately.

Alone with her boss, Britt angrily accused Sidwell of helping Dalton railroad Rocco, but Jenz replied that he’d only learned of Dalton’s actions moments ago and would never have sanctioned something that brought that kind of attention to their research. Britt was relieved that Sidwell wasn’t behind what happened to Rocco, and they agreed that Dalton was growing more unruly. When Sidwell claimed that Rocco could have ruined their project had he seen what they were hiding, Britt countered that he wouldn’t have understood even if he had seen anything. Sidwell wondered if Britt’s connection to the teen had anything to do with Rocco’s presence in the lab, but she replied that Rocco didn’t even know she worked there. Then, Britt declared that Rocco meant more to her than the research, and if Jenz didn’t get Dalton to drop the charges that day, she was going to torch the entire operation.

Turn The Tables

Back at the PCPD interrogation room, an officer entered to inform Dante that Ric was waiting for him upstairs in his office. Worried it was news regarding Rocco, Dante and Lulu asked Jason to stay with Charlotte and raced upstairs, where Ric announced that he had a way to save Rocco against the felony charges against him.

Meanwhile, Danny was shocked when Alexis entered the room, and Jason revealed that he’d called her. She wanted to speak with Danny privately, but he was adamant about taking full responsibility for his part in the mess and exclaimed that his mom would want him to do the right thing. Giving his son a swift nod, Jason announced that it was Danny’s choice. Next, as Ric filled in Dante and Lulu about his and Alexis’s plan to prove that Dalton falsified the evidence against Rocco, Alexis explained to Charlotte and Danny that if they both came forward, it would corroborate their brother’s story.  “And it’ll prove that Dalton’s statement was a fabrication,” she proclaimed. “We’re going to turn the tables on Professor Henry Dalton and make him the defendant.”
