General Hospital: Is Tristan Roberts Robert Scorpio and Anna Devane’s Secret Son?

General Hospital viewers have been looking for clues about a possible link between Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) since the character was introduced in July — and some fans now theorize that he is not only Robert’s secret son, but Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes), too.

Tristan’s Connection to Robert Scorpio

Tristan Roberts arrived on the canvas bearing some obvious parallels to Scorpio: They’re both Australian, they both have ties to the WSB, and the show named the character as an homage to Scorpio’s portrayer, the late Tristan Rogers, and the iconic character he played on and off from 1980 until 2025.

While the show has not yet established that Tristan and Scorpio are connected, much less how, GH’s head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, teased in an interview with Soap Opera Digest before the character’s introduction that Tristan lands in Port Charles seeking “a clean break with his past will prove difficult when he discovers his adopted home is host to more than a few connections to a life he left behind.”

Tristan soon began sharing scenes with Anna, Robert’s former wife and one-time WSB partner, and on the September 28 episode, Anna told Tristan that he reminded her of someone who now lives far away, an obvious reference to Robert.

Also of note to eagle-eyed viewers? Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) — Anna and Robert’s shared granddaughter — was also at the Metro Court Gardens, and took great interest in who her grandmother was conversing with. “Emma makes it a point to notice Tristan with Anna. There’s something deeper going on here. I still think he could be Anna and Robert’s,” commented GH watcher @tracytea on X (formerly Twitter).

How Could Anna and Robert Be Tristan’s Parents?

The theory that Tristan could be Anna and Robert’s secret son hinges around the missing years in the characters’ on-screen history.

Robert and Anna were mere months into their second marriage when, in March 1992, they were presumed dead in a boat explosion after Anna-obsessed Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) kidnapped her and Robert rode to her rescue.

Anna and Robert both turned up alive many years later — and significantly, when Anna resurfaced, it was revealed that she had been suffering from amnesia for years. That unaccounted-for period of time — and Anna’s lack of a reliable memory of it — creates an opening where GH could retcon a pregnancy for Anna without tampering with on-screen canon too egregiously. “It wouldn’t really be a retcon if Tristan is Robert & Anna’s child,” X user @sassydew argued. “ It would have been possible that she gave birth and did not remember.”

Robert and Anna’s History of Secret Children

GH has gone down the road of secret children with Anna and Robert, both together and separately.

In 1985, when Anna first arrived in Port Charles, Robert was stunned to discover that they shared a daughter, Robin (Kimberly McCullough), whom Anna had kept hidden from him after their initial messy breakup. In 2012, Robert was briefly led to believe that he had fathered a son, Ethan, with his other ex-wife, Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), though the true bio dad proved to be Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). Then, in what would be the final on-screen chapter of Robert and Holly’s love story, Robert learned in 2024 that they shared a daughter, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson).

Anna, meanwhile, believed for several years that she was the biological mother of Peter August (Wes Ramsey), Faison’s son. This retcon was deeply unpopular with fans, and an elaborate story involving falsely implanted memories ultimately undid the twist, recasting Peter’s birth mom as Anna’s identical twin, Alex Devane (also played by Finola Hughes).

GH attempting to give Anna a son with Faison was particularly distasteful to fans who had long hoped that the show would reveal that Anna and Robert had a second child during their off-screen years. That history helps explain why the possibility of an Anna-and-Robert son remains particularly appealing to viewers.

For now, little is known about Tristan’s background. He may be another surprise Robert/Holly child, Robert’s son by one of the other women in his past, or not his son at all. What outcome are you rooting for?
