General Hospital Comings and Goings: Fan Favorite Villainess Returns, But With A Twist!
The December 2 episode of General Hospital featured the returns of not one but two popular characters: In addition to Jon Lindstrom popping back up as Kevin Collins, fans of the fierce mob boss Selina Wu were in for a treat! Lydia Look has been absent from the canvas since July, but Ms. Wu made quite the comeback when a big secret was exposed via her appearance in a flashback!
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Selina was last seen in Port Charles in July, when it came to light that Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) had used two henchmen in Ms. Wu’s employ to execute the firebombing of Charlie’s Pub. Selina, who didn’t want any trouble with Sonny (Maurice Benard), understood the consequences of the dimpled don discovering that her employees were responsible for the pub’s destruction — especially since his daughter Kristina (Kate Mansi) was trapped inside and was lucky to make it out alive. Knowing full well that Sidwell wanted suspicion to fall on her and not him, she called him out for setting her up. But in light of how successfully he’d framed her, Selina realized she had to get out of town — and quickly.
In the very next episode, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) reported to Jason (Steve Burton) that Selina was the number one suspect in the firebombing, given the involvement of the men on her payroll. Dante noted to Jason that Selina had booked a flight to Singapore — but he added that he didn’t know whether or not she had actually boarded the plane. Jason shared with Dante that he didn’t believe that Selina would risk Sonny’s wrath by targeting Charlie’s — and by extension, Kristina — and the two men agreed it was far more likely that Sidwell had set Selia up.
Given that Selina hadn’t appeared again, most viewers assumed that she had, in fact, gone overseas to protect herself from possible retaliation by Sonny. However, on Tuesday’s show, one of the many questions that has been left dangling since the night Drew (Cameron Mathison) was shot — specifically, what Curtis (Donnell Turner) was up to at the time of the crime — was finally answered. Dragged in to the PCPD for questioning by Nathan (Ryan Paevey), Curtis stonewalled the detective … but let viewers in on his dirty, not-so-little secret when he flashed back to meeting up with Selina at his club, The Savoy, and offering her a cool million dollars to kill the congressman!
Curtis’s memories revealed that Selina was newly back in town, presumably all the way from Singapore (“It’s a long flight,” she purred, telling Curtis that she had been intrigued by his phone call and asking him what she could do for him). What viewers still don’t know is if she stayed in town, or slipped out of Port Charles again after Drew took those bullets back in September. And then, of course, there’s the still-unanswered million-dollar question, one that is both literal and figurative: Did she accept Curtis’s money for the mission at hand and shoot Drew (or outsource the job to one of her thugs)?
