Days of Our Lives: Nikki Crawford Thanks Fans as Lexie Prepares to Say Goodbye
With her days as Lexie Carver on Days of Our Lives seemingly dwindling, Nikki Crawford took to social media to express her gratitude to the show’s fans.
Nikki Crawford’s Message for DAYS Fans
The actress posted to Instagram a photo from a scene on DAYS where Abe (James Reynolds) is trying to comfort a distraught Lexie (shown below). “If you knew you only had days left to live…” Crawford captioned the image. “What would your last conversation with the people you love sound like? 💔
Playing Lexie challenged me to imagine that question every single day,” she continued. “As an actor, my job isn’t to make every moment beautiful. It’s to make it truthful. Thank you for taking this journey with me.”
Crawford made her debut as Lexie on March 6, 2026, when DAYS revealed that the woman in the glowing pod was none other than Abe’s late wife. The character had previously been portrayed by Renée Jones from 1993 until Lexie’s tragic death in 2012, with Jennifer Lee stepping in to play Lexie’s spirit for a special episode in 2021.
EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) had been working with Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) to bring Lexie back to life, but almost as soon as they had, complications arose, and Lexie’s health began to decline. The resurrection process was flawed, and there was nothing anyone could do to keep Lexie from dying again. But she has kept this heartbreaking truth from her loved ones, especially Abe and Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews).
Lexie learning she was going to die just three months after returning to life led fans to question the entire storyline, even as they praised Crawford’s performance in it. “I don’t understand why they bring back a legacy character like her and then have to kill her off again so quickly,” wondered djpimpspice in the comments of Crawford’s post. And itsburnt wrote, “The writers wasted the opportunity to have Lexie return for good. You deserve kudos for your portrayal of a beloved character in such short period of time.”
Of course, some viewers still anticipate another twist coming in the near future, with socratesbookreviews asking, “Is it really over? With this show I can never tell. You have done an outstanding job. Kitalynn16 added, “You have done an amazing job. I really don’t want you to go. I hope you stay or a miracle happens for your character.”
