DAYS Exclusive: Linsey Godfrey Previews Sarah and Xander’s Big Showdown

Comments

A big showdown between Xander and Sarah is coming on Days of Our Lives, and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) promises it’s going to be worth the wait. Once Xander learns his beloved and (usually) honest wife has been keeping a huge secret from him – the fact that she knew the letter that gave Philip control of half of Titan Industries was a forgery – he’s going to erupt. But how is Sarah going to react to being confronted by her husband? Linsey Godfrey spoke to Soap Opera Digest about the pair’s fiery head-to-head and how she and leading man Paul Telfer (Paul) are hoping that the conflict is resolved.

Soap Opera Digest: What can you kind of tease about the moment when the truth finally comes out?

Linsey Godfrey: There’s definitely some really great scenes coming up between the two of them, highly emotional scenes. You will absolutely see Sarah not back down at all, and she will not be taking any of Xander’s s–t, essentially. She’ll not be taking any of it. You will see her not back down. You will see her not be intimidated. You will see her stand so strong, and you’ll see her be the one that could be slightly intimidating. She’ll put Xander in his place for the first time.

Digest: Sarah does have a case to plead regarding her uncharacteristic actions. She firmly believes what she did was right, doesn’t she?

Godfrey: I don’t think Sarah ever feels like the reason behind it was wrong. She knows that lying is not great, and she’s aware of the fact that lying is wrong. But this is one of those “you do something wrong for the right reasons” things.

Digest: Does she feel badly about lying to Xander?

Godfrey: Of course, because she loves Xander and lying is inevitably going to hurt somebody. So as much as she feels [justified], she obviously never wants to hurt him. She loves him to bits. But you’ll also see her realizing the hypocrisy and the audacity of him saying anything to her about anything. She’s been a constant good, and he’s been a constant bad.

Digest: The build-up to this confrontation has been outstanding, just watching Xander slowly put all the pieces together.

Godfrey: Yes, as Xander gathered information and that came to a head, you saw both of them explode. It was very funny. Noel Maxam, who’s our director and co-executive producer, was directing those scenes. We had to do some other ones recently, and he told one of the boom operators, “Just back up, because they’re going to get loud.” They really wanted us to go for it. It was very funny, because usually it’s just one-sided. But for us to be head-to-head, very loud, and battling it out about things… It was very interesting and weirdly kind of cathartic as well.

Digest: What are your thoughts about how this situation should be resolved? Are you ready for another Xander-Sarah breakup? Or do you want them to work through this and stay together?

Godfrey: Paul and I would like to be like Johnny and Chanel for a little bit and be happy for a while, although I know that they’re going through some stuff. Paul and I both would love for them to just stay together and be happy. So there’s what we want and what the soap gods want for us. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but there’s definitely some really great scenes coming up between the two of them.
