DAYS Exclusive: Linsey Godfrey Is ‘So Excited’ About Sarah’s New Friendship

Comments

The Perfect Blendship: Linsey Godfrey (l.) is having a blast developing the friendship between her character, Sarah, and Abigail Klein’s Stephanie.

One positive thing has come out of Sarah keeping a major secret from Xander – the fact that Philip used a forged letter to acquire half of Titan Industries – on Days of our Lives: She’s forged a new bond with Stephanie, who divulged the potent information to her.

“I love working with Abigail [Klein, Stephanie] so much, and I was so excited that we got so much time together,” says Linsey Godfrey (Sarah). “I always joke about this, but it’s the truth: Sarah really doesn’t have any friends. And she and Stephanie have a lot in common. They’re both career-driven. They’re both close with their mothers. They both love their family.”

The Ties That Bind

So, when Godfrey saw the two characters finally interacting in scripts via the same storyline, she was eager to get started and hopeful that things might progress into a bona fide friendship for their characters. “I was so excited because Abigail and I had been talking about it,” shares Godfrey. “And I think I had done an interview saying I really wanted Sarah to become friends with Abigail or with Stephanie and Jada — or, like, anybody,” she adds with a laugh. “I was okay with Chanel, but also I love the Jada/Stephanie friendship. And I was like, ‘Oh, wouldn’t it be cool if Chanel and Sarah got to be added into that group?’ I thought that would be fun.”

Godfrey has actually been a fan of Stephanie’s family, the Johnsons, and their tight relationship for quite a while. “One of my favorite scenes ever, and I don’t know what the context was, was when Kayla and Steve were in bed and Stephanie came into their bedroom,” recounts Godfrey. “She crawled into bed with them and laid her head on Mary Beth [Evans, Kayla], and they all just laid there and chatted. I was like, ‘I love that so much.’ I didn’t grow up with my parents together. I didn’t grow up with my dad in our home, but I absolutely crawled in bed with my mom to chat with her. And me and my daughter [Aleda, 10] and my mom will all be in bed together to watch a movie or whatever. I love that.”

Godfrey, who in real life is besties with her former Bold and Beautiful co-star Kimberly Matula (ex-Hope), cherishes friendships and special mother/daughter bonds, both on screen and off. “I’ve heard the fans say they don’t like it when Sarah [acts like] a baby with her mom, but I’m a baby with my mom,” shrugs Godfrey. “And Sarah absolutely is with Maggie, unless they’re butting heads. Then Sarah is very stern with Maggie. But I just think that there’s a place for her to be kind of a little girl and that’s with her mom. My 46-year-old sister is that way. My 41-year-old sister is that way. I’m 36 years old, and I am that way with my mom. I hope Aleda is that way when she’s 36, too.”
