Having her TV family home for the holidays – namely, Sal Stowers as Paulina’s eldest daughter, Lani, and Lamon Archey as Lani’s husband, Eli – was a lovely touch, but Jackée Harry (Paulina, Days of our Lives) is eager for the pair to return to the soap permanently.

“They should come back right away. Right now. And they should bring their babies with them,” says Harry. “Come to mama. Come home to mama! I love them. I want them back, and they’re easy on the eyes. Plus, they can help Paulina tame Abe. She can’t control him alone. She needs help.”

Feeling the Love

Harry is incredibly fond of both Stowers and Archey. “I love Sal. I adore Sal,” raves Harry. “She is genuine. She’s down to earth and gorgeous, stunning, and doesn’t care about it. And Lamon, I’ve fallen in love with recently. We did the Day of DAYS together, and he was just so suave. He’s got swag. He’s all that and a bag of chips. So I love them. I loved her instantly. Him, I didn’t get to know so much until later. But believe me, I love him now.”

Harry marvels that whenever Stowers and Archey return to the soap, they both fall into the groove effortlessly. “Honestly, every time,” she asserts. “And you don’t get that with everybody. It sounds so phony, but it’s true. They don’t have to work their way back into things to feel comfortable. Nope, not at all. And they won’t leave me alone. All of the young people won’t leave me alone. They want me to know everything that’s going on.”

This time around, Stowers and Archey were accompanied by the set of twins, Dion and Raegen Yancy and Zyair and Zamir Ashford, who portray their onscreen twins, Jules and Carver. “They’re big now,” notes Harry. “So I don’t know if I can say they’re babies anymore. They’re talking back. They love me now. They were different before, but now they love me. At least I think they love me, but they’re kids. So they can be fickle. They’re just sweet and kind. They’re being raised properly.”

Harry longs for the day when Stowers, Archey and the above mentioned kids can be back on the DAYS canvas full-time, and Paulina can have a bigger onscreen family. “It’s more comfortable. It satiates you, especially when you feel that need for support,” shares Harry. “Growing up, I never thought, ‘Oh, you need a family.’ But you do. It kind of grounds you, especially grandkids. I have grandkids. They make you feel a way you didn’t even know you were going to feel. You really love them more and more. It’s like, ‘What’s that about? Why do I feel this way?’ I don’t know if it’s true for everybody, but, for me, it’s been a revelation. It’s been like, ‘Oh God, I love my grandkids this much?’ Who knew?”

Although Marla Gibbs had played a part in the Price family before as Paulina’s mother, Olivia, Harry hasn’t heard any talk about her heading back to Salem in the future. “I don’t know. I don’t get into that,” asserts Harry. “Because she’s, what, 93? I know everybody’s living to 100. Dick Van Dyke (ex-Timothy) is 99. I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ ”

In the interim, Harry wouldn’t mind a new cast addition to shake things up for the happy clan. “He should be rough,” she says. “You see, I said he. Recalcitrant and adventurous. By rough, I mean rough around the edges. Not so clean… I would definitely like to see a rebel.”

And would this rebel be someone Harry is envisioning from Paulina’s romantic past or for her future? “Well, I ain’t Cher, but I’ll give it a go,” the actress delivers with a chuckle. “I don’t want him to be 35, but I’ll take 60.”
