The new hour-long joint venture soap from CBS Studios/NAACP Venture will be hitting the airwaves on February 24, 2025 and has gotten the 2 p.m. time slot on the East Coast and will air at 1 p.m. on the West Coast. The show will also be available to watch on CBS’s affiliated streaming service, Paramount+.
Shooting Is Underway
Production began in Atlanta, Georgia on November 1 with a cast anchored by veteran soap star Tamara Tunie (ex-Jessica Griffin, As The World Turns) and legendary actor Clifton Davis as husband and wife Anita Dupree and Vernon Dupree. On Thursday, October 31, the cast took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony on the new sound stages and gathered around for their first table read, which you can read more about here.
Many members of the cast are newcomers to the daytime scene, but BTG also boasts some faces already familiar to daytime fans. In addition to Tunie, Karla Mosley (ex-Maya Avant Forrester, Bold and Beautiful) is playing Dani Dupree, Daphnee Duplaix (ex-Rachel Gannon, One Life to Live) is playing Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson and Mike Manning (ex-Charlie Dale, Days of Our Lives) is playing Bradley “Smitty” Smith.
In the official press release about the new show, BTG is described as “set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., and in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. Here you’ll find a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have “made it” and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life … and some with more grace than others.”
The show was created by veteran daytime scribe Michele Val Jean, who is also serving as executive producer and show runner alongside EPs Sheila Ducksworth, Robert Guza, Jr., Julie Carruthers, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner and Anna Saalfeld.
