Cameron Mathison Previews Drew And Willow Getting Busted On GH: ‘It Gets Real Ugly’
All hell is set to break loose on Friday, December 13ht at the Christmas party at the Quartmaine mansion when the video of General Hospital‘s Drew and Willow doing the dirty in her children’s playroom gets screened for the assembled guests — a list that not only includes the cheating duo, but also her husband, Michael; Sasha, who is secretly carrying Michael’s baby; Drew’s cousin Ned and aunt Tracy; Nina, Willow’s mother, who was herself secretly sleeping with Drew; and, of course, Michael’s fiercely protective mama, Carly, who used to be Drew’s lover.
An Affair To Remember
In a new interview with TV Insider, Cameron Mathison (Drew) opened up about the sticky romantic predicament his character finds himself in, noting that when he first started sharing more screen time with Willow’s portrayer, Katelyn MacMullen, “I had no idea that it would blow up Port Charles. I had no idea that Drew’s character would almost do a 180 as far as what he’s willing to do and the sacrifices he’s willing to make for this love for this woman.”
The actor is well aware that viewers have been far from pleased with Drew’s conduct as the storyline has progressed, and admitted that “initially that was hard for me.” In fact, he shared, he had trouble understanding where Drew was coming from and sought creative insight from the show’s higher-ups. “I went to see the producers a few times because I didn’t understand it and I needed help. I needed guidance. I needed motivation.”
But Mathison still thinks the possibility still exists for a lasting love affair between Drew and his nephew’s wife. “I think it’s the making of, potentially, a really beautiful love story,” he told the publication.
Of course, any sort of happy ending will have to wait now that Drew and Willow have no choice but to face the fallout of their caught-on-tape sexual shenanigans. Previewed Mathison, “The Quartermaines love it because they’re already anti-Drew. Everybody else is mortified. It gets real ugly, real fast, understandably.”
And longer-term, Drew will ultimately have to deal with the possibility of Willow finding out that both he and her mother have concealed their own intimate relations from her. Mathison noted, “the problem is, Nina knows the whole story and Willow doesn’t. [Drew] was never sleeping with both of them at the same time, but he’s certainly not being open and honest to Willow.”
