Brown Won’t Let Lisa Get Her Down

Comments

If there’s no such thing as bad publicity, then perhaps GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Brianna Brown can take heart (well, sort of) that some viewers care enough to hate her character, Dr. Lisa Niles, for helping to break up Patrick and Robin’s marriage.Soap Opera Weekly: I understand that some fans who don’t like the Lisa/Patrick infidelity storyline are confusing you with your character in some tweets and online posts.

Brianna Brown: I’ve heard there have been a lot of people that have written some really nasty stuff about Lisa and about me, which I feel is a bit funny, since I’m not my character. I, Brianna Brown, definitely am not an orthopedic surgeon, and I’m not breaking up a marriage, so it’s funny how that can be; how those lines can get crossed. But then there was a huge positive response from people being really supportive of my character.

Weekly: It’s unfortunate that some people forget that you’re just following a script and playing a character.

Brown: I understand it, because [betrayal] is a deep emotion — especially for people if they’ve had someone in their life cheat on them or they had a parent that cheated. They can have deep emotions that they project onto someone else or a character. They project things that they deem really negative. I just feel like it’s a bit misplaced. I don’t think cheating is positive [or] want to point all that anger and blame at them.

Weekly: Well, I guess you could say at least viewers are connecting with the story and the characters in a strong way.

Brown: Yeah, I’d rather have them be passionate about the characters. I think Jason Thompson (Patrick) and Kimberly McCullough (Robin) have done a great job over the years with their storylines, so I’m glad the fans are so passionate in protecting them. I’d rather them be passionate about it than not care.
