A panicked Craig showed up at the farm, having looked for Meg all night. She announced that she and Paul had been together — with their baby! Craig woke up from his nightmare with a start.
At the hospital, Chris, having spent all night at Bob's bedside, left a tired message for Emily, then spotted a lonely Sofie gingerly sitting down in the lounge. He struck up a conversation, guessing that she's a new mother. Even she thought he looked a little young to be chief of staff ("I get that a lot,"he admitted) but she made polite small talk about the magic of babies before disappearing when he stepped aside to chat with a nurse.
Rosanna and Paul arrived at the Munsons' house, pre-christening. Will apologized for taking his anger at Barbara out on Paul, then announced that he's cutting Babs out of his life for his daughter's sake. Meanwhile, Barbara met with her doctor, who had a bad report about her health that we didn't get to hear. She called Paul with the grave news and — after being heartbreakingly surprised that her son actually answered — resisted his efforts to blow her off. She was about to tell him the truth when she heard the baby cry in the background (Paul had the grace to look guilty about keeping mum about his whereabouts to spare her feelings) and tearfully urged him to stay with his brother, where he belongs. Rosanna then announced that Carly's feeling under the weather so she's skipping the christening, but did send along Parker and Sage's christening gown. The young Munsons got giddy about the fact that they now have a family. "Babies change everything,"noted a wistful Rosanna, no doubt thinking of Meg, who was busy rebandaging Craig's wound. Noticing that it looked infected, Meg insisted on bringing her hubby to the hospital, where his doctor, Chris, tactfully waited until Meg left the room to suspiciously tell him that there was Xyphorex in his system. Though clearly skeptical, Chris accepted Craig's silly excuse for how he might have been around a drug that causes miscarriage and agreed to keep mum.
Alison ran into Aaron while shopping for baby gifts; they went to the church together, where Will and Gwen asked them to be godparents. After a brief moment of awkwardness when they noted that they aren't "together" anymore, they accepted, honored. The christening commenced with a Godfather-style voiceover as we saw Craig slamming down a drink and angrily tossing the glass while looking at a sonogram shot, Barbara sadly looking at a baby in Old Town and Meg having an impromptu baby shower with her nurse friends. Sofie arrived in a climactic moment at the end of the ceremony and made nervous small talk before learning that Aaron and Alison were the baby's godparents. Aaron was conflicted about leaving Sofie at the church alone later and stuck around to comfort her. She confessed that it's hard to be around Hallie right now, because she still seems like her daughter. Meanwhile, Gwen confided to Rosanna that surprisingly, she feels like Hallie is hers already. "I love her. I love who Will and I are now that we have her," she gushed. After the reverend assured Sofie that she made the right decision regarding Hallie, she spied Barbara in one of the pews and overheard her pray for more time so that she could see her children be happy. Back at the cottage, Alison told Gwen that she and Aaron were over and now they're "just friends,"but Mrs. Munson was too happy to let that little glitch get her down — she was reminded that that was all she once thought she and Will would be and "now he's my life."
Meg's gossipy nurse friends convinced her to get Craig to join them for a drink in the Lakeview lobby (mostly so they could see for themselves that he's not the freak that the hospital grapevine makes him out to be), but Craig ruined her attempts to prove his humanity by overreacting when she jokingly showed him the baby doll they'd given her and announced that "this baby needs a father." "Is that supposed to be funny?" he snapped, snatching the doll out of her hands. She scolded him for causing a scene; Craig got scary sarcastic, in that way he does, and loudly insisted that he's the happiest guy in the world. He really just came off as drunk as he reminisced about baby Johnny being kidnapped by Lucy to the horrified nurses. "You made a fool out of the both of us,"Meg said, after her friends politely made excuses and left. She then grabbed the doll from him. "What is that, Meg, practice, for when you take my baby away from me?" he cried. Meg soon deduced that he'd mixed his antibiotics with alcohol just as he spotted Paul and Rosanna returning. "Do you think this baby looks like me? Because I think it looks like a chip off the old block,"he slurred to Paul.

A drunken/drugged Craig challenged "Paulie" to tell him whether the baby
doll looks like his father. Finally, Meg simply dragged him upstairs and
scolded him for mixing his antibiotics with alcohol, guessing that he was
acting so self-destructively because of his worries about the Gaucher's
Disease or because of Paul. When he demanded to be left alone, she
reluctantly did. She headed to the farm, where Holden was willing to have a
heart-to-heart with her about Craig, in which he actually encouraged her to
cut her husband a little slack and blamed the destruction of his own marriage on
the fact that he and Lily stopped listening to each other. Meanwhile, Paul
was amused by the "show"; Rosanna was more distressed and soon dismissed
herself to sneak upstairs and excoriate Craig for causing a scene. He
confessed to trying to cause a miscarriage, which horrified Rosanna. She made
him promise not to try to hurt the baby then ran into Meg downstairs. Meg
guessed that she had visited Craig; their ensuing argument was interrupted
by Paul, but Meg was left suspicious. She came home to find the baby doll on
the floor (a result of Craig's latest melodramatic temper tantrum) and
continued to wonder what is going on with him. Rosanna and Paul discussed
Paul's continued hatred of Craig; she pointed out that his vendetta is a
waste of time. He agreed and pulled her into a kiss.
Dusty ran into Emily, who stubbornly insisted that his devotion to her is a
"damsel in distress thing" and that they'll never be together. "What do you
want me to say? 'I love you, Dusty?' You will never hear me say those words
to you," she swore. Dusty wasn't deterred: he doesn't need her to tell him
because he knows that she loves him and he loves her too. She admitted that
their passion is intense, but that's "a recipe for disaster" in her life and
he's no good for her.
Lily and Holden had an awkward — but civil — chat at the farm. After she glossed
over Dusty standing her up for New Year's Eve, she mentioned seeing him with
Bonnie. They were interrupted when Dusty called her; Lily left Holden with
baby Ethan to meet her boyfriend. She arrived annoyed, expecting a big
apology from Dusty for making her suffer through one of her worst New Year's
Eves ever. He confessed that he'd spent the night with Emily. She blamed
slutty Em, but Dusty took full responsibility, claiming that they both
wanted to be together — and he still does because he loves Emily.
Humiliated, a tearful Lily bitterly attacked him for letting her give up her
marriage for him, while Dusty tried to gently remind her that they'll always
be close friends (that didn't really help) and that he always knew she'd go
back to Holden anyway. Lily fixed her makeup, raised her chin high and
picked up Ethan from Holden. "Dusty and I are over," she reported in her
most nonchalant voice while trying not to cry.
At the hospital, Chris theorized to Susan that Dusty caused Bob's relapse.
Susan noted that while she's "no fan of Dusty's" she can't believe that he
would hurt Bob. She also doesn't think his father would approve of Chris
being his primary physician. The young doctor was bristling at her talking
to him, "her boss," in such a forward way when Em interrupted. Emily felt
bad that Dusty's attempts to discredit him are entirely because of her.
Chris was confident that he can take care of Dusty. He was called away by a
page, at which time Dusty returned to report to Emily that he ended things
with Lily. That made no difference to her. "I'm not leaving Chris for you,"
she insisted.

After enduring a particularly chilly morning reception from her creepy
husband Craig, Meg met with her gossipy former co-worker, who nervously
showed her the Montgomery medical chart. Upon reading that Xyphorex caused
her husband's infection, Meg (calling on some heretofore extraordinarily
underutilized deduction skills) realized (in the course of just a few
scenes!) that he was up to no good. She went home and tested him by pushing
his buttons about the baby, specifically: naming their offspring Craig
Montgomery, Jr. Her hubby's over-my-dead-body reaction to that suggestion
was all the proof of wrongdoing that she needed. A quick call to Nurse
Know-It-All later revealed that Eli had quit after coming into a large sum
of money; Meg left a message about the possibility of a switched DNA test
with Eli, then left one for Paul with urgent news about the baby.
Not long after Emily and Chris finished a PDA session in the Lakeview lobby,
Lily strolled up and snarkily noted that she'd had such a relationship with
Dusty — before he dumped her for a whore like Em, who didn't take kindly to
that particular slur (or Lily's subsequent threats to tell Chris) and
hightailed to Dusty, yelling at him about Lily's attack. He assured her that
he hadn't told Lily the truth about her past and that he loves her. She
continued to be stubborn, vowing that if a vengeful Lily ruins her
relationship with Chris, it will be all Dusty's fault.
Lily left her confrontation with Emily and blew off plans to pick up Faith
at dance class and headed to Yo's, where it was suddenly the afternoon (at
least) and where she met a hot young stranger named Jay, who gave her a
random happy pill that he promised was not addictive. Holden, naturally, had
to pick up the slack. After picking up his daughter, he postponed a date
with Bonnie that he had just made earlier in the day. At Yo's, Lily was
feeling woozy; her new friend called her a cab. Holden forced a bellboy to
open her hotel room door later and found her passed out on the bed. When
Lily came too, he worriedly noted that her unconscious state freaked him out
because it reminded him of her coma. She felt terrible about standing up
Faith; Holden awesomely chose concern over judgment and offered to let her
convalesce at the farm. He did, however, clarify that it doesn't change
their relationship, so Lily quickly backtracked, insisting that she'd be
better off at the hotel. She called Faith to apologize, but it didn't really
go over well.
Dusty tried to get Margo to pull some strings so he could have access to Bob
that Chris has denied. Tom angrily defended his brother to Dusty, but Margo
knows the occasional criminal suspect pretty well; she and her husband
argued about whether Dusty might be on to something regarding his
accusations against Chris.
Emily threw herself at Chris while Dusty snuck into Bob's office and found
the doc's coffee cup. After picking it up with a tissue, he smelled it
suspiciously, then called someone to have "something analyzed."
