Crystal Chappell Out at DAYS!

Crystal Chappell (Carly) has been let go from DAYS OF OUR LIVES, according to a post from the actress, via her husband, Michael Sabatino's, (Lawrence) Twitter account. "Want you to know, as I understand it, DOOL has decided not to renew my contract." Chappell later added, "I'm sad but grateful for the opportunity. I made new friends and got VENICE [the web series] up and running thanks to you. I wish DAYS much success." In a further post, Chappell clarified, "P.S. Not the new writers decision." Chappell returned to DAYS in August 2009, following the cancellation of GUIDING LIGHT, where she played Olivia. Her current contract expires in August.

I'm really sad to see Crystal go! Carly was a great character, now and back in the 1990's. Crystal is one of the best actresses out there and DOOL is a fool for letting her go. DOOL won't be the same without her. I hope she has lots of success in her future!
DAYS is spinning out of control! I was excited when a Bo and Carly relationship seemed to be in the works. But again, Bo was just passing thru, saving his lady love, then whoops! Hope needs him (again) and he is OK with Carly just saying, 'yes you should help her'. Bo never fought to keep Carly, just accepted her when Hope was gone, then ran back as soon as he could.
So now what? Carly doesn't have a man so she gets hooked on drugs and leaves town....right after finding Melanie? Please.
And what about Carly's son? Instead of bringing Quin in as Vivian's son (then announce they are both 'out' as well) why not unite Carly's whole family??
Sure I was a fan of Bo and Hope, in the 1980's!! I would like to see Hope love someone else (and as Hope, not like Gina storyline).

Crystal is a good actress. But I didn't buy the character of Carly being on drugs. Something about it did not feel right for that character. I would like to have seen Carly keep working as a doctor and try to work on her relationship with Melanie and help Daniel through his ordeal. That was a good opportunity to cement them as a family (but not including Daniel and Carly as a couple). Sometimes it is best to give the character a rest. After Carly peacefully let Bo go (takes a strong woman to do that), she turns to drugs? I don't think so. Could buy the hurt, but not the drugs.
It would have been more interesting to see more peaceful interaction between Hope and Carly. Hope finds her way back to law enforcement and Carly helps her with medical information. And Bo looks like he doesn't know what is going on! (Cause he doesn't!) That would have been interesting and funny.
Hate to see you go Crystal. Wishing DOOL would have taken your character in a much better direction. Zero doubt you're going to land on your feet. You're a lovely lady and a wonderful actress. Best of luck!!
Crystal Chappell is the only reason I watch DAYS, and I'm not the only one. DAYS will regret this, especially with its ratings being so bad to begin with. I hope she gets a job on Y&R where they use her talents better.
Totally agree with you. As soon as she is gone, I won't watched it either.
Crystal Chappell is a fantastic actress and DOOL will regret firing her. The Carly story line was just taking off. There were so many directions they could have gone with it. It is sad that DOOL did not realize or appreciate the gem they had in Crystal. I will not be watching DOOL without Crystal.
The drug story is not really believable because I don't think Carly would turn to drugs. Her return was kinda wasted, although I do enjoy her scenes with Melanie and Daniel. I think they should have paired Carly back up with Daniel.
Viv should introduce Carly to Quinn, then she can buy her drugs from him! LOL
We all saw what a good actrice CC is. What DOOL did with her caracter was a waste of her talent. When they didn't know what to do with Carly they copy GL but worse they made her a drug addict ! Same ol, same ol ! She will do much better on her own. Can't wait to see what she'll bring next !
Crystal Chappell is a good actress. But Carly's return has been a horrible bust. Its been one bad, boring, and lame story for Carly after the other. Carly just does not fit on DOOL. That won't change especially when the writers, producers, and executives have no interest in the character. Plus DOOL is a terrible soap. I think this is the best decision for all. I wish Crystal all the best with her web soaps and landing another job.
That's a shame. I liked her on the show and thought she had more story to tell.
