The 10th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards were telecast live on February 4 from the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hills Hilton in Los Angeles. FRASIER star Kelsey Grammer served as host.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES continued its streak as Favorite Show and nabbed nine other awards, including Hottest Female Star (Melissa Reeves, Jennifer), Hottest Male Star (Drake Hogestyn, John) and Female Newcomer (Lisa Rinna, ex-Billie).
