Kevin Dobson (Mack, KNOTS LANDING) and Robin Mattson (Gina, SANTA BARBARA) hosted the Seventh Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards, which took place at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The event was taped and aired as a two-hour TV special the following Monday.

The talk of the evening was Outstanding Villainess winner Lynn Herring (Lucy, GENERAL HOSPITAL), who had given birth to her first son with husband Wayne Northrop (Roman, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) days earlier. In the press room, castmate Kin Shriner (Scott) deadpanned, "Kind of a big week, huh Lynn?" As a svelte Herring scurried toward the exit to get home to Hank -- she only stayed for her category -- she yelled to Shriner, "I'll call you tomorrow and you can tell me all about it."

KL swept every prime-time category, so it wasn't a shock when it was awarded Outstanding Prime-Time Show...
