ALL IN THE FAMILY
Zach Tinker (Fenmore, Y&R) credits his soap parents, Christian J. LeBlanc (Michael) and Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren), for helping him to feel at ease during his first day on the set. “They made me feel like their son,” smiles the young actor. “I mean, the first thing they said to me was, ‘As many times as you want to run the lines, let us know. If you have any questions, just ask.’ Christian was cracking jokes; he really is one of the silliest guys there. He and Tracey really made me feel at home. The first day I felt new, but after three days of being there with them and the rest of the cast and crew, I already felt at home. I never met a more welcoming group of people, and I think that’s what makes the show so awesome. The group making this every day must be having fun and a good time for a show to be this successful.” Tinker was especially impressed with Bregman’s attitude, given that she had just lost her house in a wildfire. “I have never met anybody as strong as her, with what’s been going on in her personal life and all of that,” he marvels. “She’s really kept herself together and I tip my hat. In fact, I tip every hat I’ve ever owned to her!”

LET’S MAKE AN EMMY
B&B’s Wayne Brady (Reese) took home Emmy gold last year as Outstanding Game Show Host, nine years after taking over the iconic LET’S MAKE A DEAL in 2009. While he has won four Emmys in various categories over the years, Brady had given up hope in the Host category, but daughter Maile Brady (Tiffany) insisted that he attend the evening — and Brady’s glad he did. “It was so humbling,” he says of the event. “At the end of the day, we just make people happy, and that’s what I truly love. The stuff I do on LET’S MAKE A DEAL — the sketches, the improv, the songs and the deals — don’t necessarily fit into a mold, so when my name was called, it was one of the best moments in my life because my partner-in-crime was there with me, and that made it all the more special. She’s the reason why I even went to the Daytime Emmys that year. She said, ‘Dad, I want to go with you.’ I said, ‘Maile, I just got off a plane from a shoot. I’m tired,’ and she said, ‘Put on your tuxedo. You are taking me on a date,’ and that girl got me out of the house. That night will forever be etched in my head as one of the best nights ever!”

YOU AGAIN
Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, DAYS) has worked alongside many co-stars over the year — some more than once. “Kin Shriner [Scott, GH], he came around so many times in my life,” she said on Digest’s podcast, Dishing with Digest. “It started on RITUALS [where she played Dakota and he played Mike]. It was the very first kind of soapy thing I did. He was so sweet to me. It was so funny; I mean, I was like a virgin with a brain tumor and was a surrogate mother to his baby. I mean, ridiculous! But he got asked — because he had come off his Scotty Baldwin fame — he was asked to do different things and one of them was to go on [THE] MERV GRIFFIN [SHOW]. He said, ‘Come with me!’ because he knew I was a talker and he wasn’t. So I went and I made — you should look it up on YouTube, it’s pretty funny — I made the dress I wore, and I decided, ‘If we run out of things to talk about, I’m gonna talk about the dress I made.’ I think I was engaged; I wasn’t even married yet. Our paths have crossed a million times. Jon Lindstrom [Ryan/Kevin, GH], he came and replaced somebody else that had been on the show [as Brady] and our paths crossed a zillion times, too. It’s like a big family.”

BABY FEVER
Ryan Carnes (Lucas, GH) is thrilled that Brad and Lucas becoming first-time parents has given him and on-screen hubby Parry Shen (Brad) some important story to play. “I think it’s an honor,” he declares. “It’s great that there’s a same-sex couple that has a baby and are getting to experience the same things people actually do experience in our world. I mean I think just from that standpoint it’s a real honor. It’s been really fun so far and hopefully we’re just gonna keep ratcheting up the drama. And,” he teases, “I feel honored that Frank [Valentini, executive producer] trusted me to hold a baby!” Carnes and Chad Duell (Michael), whose character is the biological father of the baby Lucas is raising (unknown to either Lucas or Michael), have had some on-set fun with the soapy scenario. “We do have this running joke; all the time now in every scene, Chad’s always looking at my baby and I’m always like, ‘Stop looking at my baby like that! Stop saying those weird things about my baby!’ because obviously Michael has a connection to this child and he can’t explain it.” Though Duell has admitted in the past to being uncomfortable working with babies, “Chad’s doing just fine,” Carnes reports. “He seems a bit nervous, a bit skittish, but so far there have been no dropped babies [laughs].”
