DAD TO THE BONE
When Y&R’s Victor and Nick aren’t getting along, Joshua Morrow (Nick) can get a little down about it. “Eric [Braeden, Victor] and I love working together, but we constantly complain that our characters are always at each other’s throats, even though it makes for good story,” he explains. “Eric and I are very close and I would never, ever treat my dad the way Nick treats Victor, but we’re trying to do a television show and put our personal feelings aside. I do feel the best scenes I’ve ever had are with Eric because there’s a strong connection to them. It’s very easy to tell emotional stories and powerful ones with him at the same time.” Which is why Morrow appreciated the scene where a weak Victor comes home from the hospital and Nick tells his father that he loves him. “We think very highly of each other, so our feelings are not fake, and that scene was really moving for us,” Morrow shares. “As amazing as it was to see Eric in that scene, it was also sad for me to watch, because he is getting older. But that doesn’t diminish who he is as a man or a performer, and it was powerful to watch him. I’ve always been a big fan of his and he’s very effective at what he does.”

STEP TO IT
Haley Pullos (Molly, GH) is a big fan of Port Charles’s newest hotspot for grubbing and gossip, Charlie’s Pub. “I think it’s a really fun set,” she praises. “There’s a lot of cool details and I love that they’re famous for their avocado toast, which is such a millennial thing. I feel like it’s totally just a cool hangout spot and that they did a really good job adding details to make sure that it comes across as being a cool hangout spot.” But she has to be particularly careful when entering or exiting the pub, since there’s a step down almost immediately past the door. “I recently hurt my knee and I went into work the next day and I was having a little trouble walking and we were filming in Charlie’s Pub and I was staring at that step all day because I knew I would have to tackle it at some point! In the scenes we shot that day, there is a moment where you can see me hesitate just slightly before I step up. It’s like a trip hazard!”

I’VE GOT A FEELING
Greg Rikaart (Leo, DAYS) and his husband, Robert Sudduth, were thrilled to discover that they would become parents. “Our first attempt to get pregnant wasn’t successful, which was really disappointing, but on the second try we suspected that Marcela, our surrogate, was pregnant,” Rikaart recalls. “She was feeling tired, she felt like she was, and we also had a hunch. We asked our doctor to email Rob and me to let us know when they had the results — without telling us what the results were — so that we could find each other and call in to the office together. It was October 9 [2015]; I remember because it was my dad’s birthday. When the doctor emailed us, I got in my car and drove to Rob’s office. We set up the camera on the phone so we could record the conversation and called in to the office to get our test results. That’s how we found out. What a day! We saved the video to show [son] Monte when he’s older.”

BOOM TOWN
B&B alum Rome Flynn (ex-Zende), who just won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor, has seen his career take off since leaving his soap home in summer 2017. “I feel like I’m in a great position and I have been from the very beginning,” the actor marvels. “With anything you do, you have to take some risks, and walking away from BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL was one of those. A lot of people have this consensus that I left to go do the show with Tyler Perry, THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS, which I had already done while I was on B&B. There was no conflict there, but people thought I left for a certain reason — and it wasn’t for any other show. It wasn’t for HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER. Although B&B was amazing, I just knew I had to go at that point. It was a hard decision but I had to take risks to get where I am, and the timing seemed right.” As for what’s next for Flynn, “I have a film coming out later this year, Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral. It’s extremely funny. I just went in to ADR [re-record dialogue a.k.a. looping], so I saw some scenes and I just cracked up!”
