In 1994, Michelle Stafford debuted as Phyllis Summers on Young and Restless. The role of Phyllis was originally intended to only last for three weeks. Stafford recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2023 on the subject of landing the role, "I didn't know the show at all, and the character breakdown had only two words: sophisticated and bitch. It was unusual because character breakdowns usually say this, that and the other and this was just those two words." She added that she thought she botched her audition, recalling, "I walked to the elevator, thinking it was another failed attempt at a job, and I just cried in the elevator.... Less than an hour later, I got a page from my agent. I went to a pay phone and he said, 'You got the job.' It was a total shock to me!"

In 2006, William deVry made his Bold and Beautiful debut as Storm Logan. The role of Brooke, Katie and Donna's brother had originally been played by Ethan Wayne, who appeared from 1987-89 and again in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2003. Brian Patrick Clarke played the role from 1990-91. deVry was hired following his run as All My Children villain Michael Cambias. He remained with the show until 2008, when Storm died by suicide. In 2017, deVry reflected on his B&B run, saying, "Honestly, my fondest memories of the show were sitting in [Executive Producer/Head Writer] Brad Bell’s office, just the two of us having a one-on-one chat. Generally about life. I work better when I have a good relationship with my bosses, and I found him to be extremely giving of his time. Very forthright and honest."

In 2021, Robert Gossett made his General Hospital debut as Marshall Ashford, the presumed-dead father of Curtis Ashford. He told Soap Opera Digest of landing the role, "My agent called and said that [Casting Director] Mark Teschner was thinking about me for a role, and he wanted my permission to tell Mark, ‘Yes, please consider him.’ He didn’t know if I would want to do a daytime drama, but of course I said, ‘Of course I would! Why not?’ I actually forgot about it because a couple of months passed, but finally they said, ‘Could you come in and read with the actor, Donnell [Turner, Curtis]?’ for chemistry and all that. I said yes and came in and then I was told I had the role.” He added, “I’m glad I’m doing it. This phrase is overused, but it is a blessing." Gossett went on to win two Daytime Emmys for his work on the show as Outstanding Supporting Actor, nabbing the prize in 2023 and 2024.

In 2024 on Days of Our Lives, Cat Greene's (AnnaLynne McCord) stint impersonating the late Abigail Deveraux DiMera came to an end when her true identity was exposed on the day Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and "Abigail" renewed their vows in Paris. Holly Jonas had become suspicious when "Abigail" said she'd spoken to her brother on the phone, which Abigail's brother, JJ Deveraux, said never happened. When Holly confronted Cat, she began to crack under pressure and came up with a cover story for Chad, but he wasn't buying it. Later, after Holly ran into Mark Greene (Cat's brother), she conferred with JJ, who proclaimed, "There's definitely something off here." He wondered if "Abigail" was an impostor and if the DNA tests had been altered. Meanwhile, Mark arrived at Chad and Abigail's apartment and Cat confessed to Chad that she had been speaking on the phone with Mark, not JJ. "What the hell is going on right now?" barked Chad. Mark then pulled out a gun, and Chad demanded to know who had put Mark up to trying to kill him. Mark said it was Clyde. "Abigail" put herself in between the gun and Chad to protect the man she had come to care for. "If you want to shoot him, you have to shoot me first,” Abigail warned. Just then, Steve Johnson sneaked into the apartment and knocked Mark out. "This woman is not Abigail," Steve then proclaimed to a stunned Chad.
