General Hospital’s Morgan was Killed in a Car Explosion and More Big Moments from October 10

In 2002, Bold and Beautiful's Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz, l.) was being held hostage at Erica Lovejoy's apartment by Erica's deranged mother, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), and Sheila angrily berated Amber for trying to escape and menacingly put a silencer on the gun she was brandishing. Opposite this, Rick came to the conclusion that his marriage to Amber was over, and while chatting with Massimo about their big secret — that Massimo, not Eric, is Ridge's father — Stephanie was taken aback when Massimo got a call from Sheila and Stephanie recognized the voice of her longtime nemesis.

In 2014, Days of Our Lives's EJ DiMera was shot and killed — or so it seemed at the time — by one of Clyde’s thugs, a death scripted in response to portrayer James Scott's decision not to renew his contract. Scott had joined the show in 2006 after completing his stint on All My Children in the role of Ethan Cambias. He confirmed his exit exclusively to Soap Opera Digest, saying, "I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to NBC, Sony and Corday, particularly [Executive Producer] Ken Corday, for the amazing 8 year run on Days of our Lives and for graciously supporting me in my decision in leaving the show to take personal time. To the unbelievably loving fans, I can’t begin to express my gratitude for your love and support over the years. I will miss you immensely." "We are saddened but supportive of James Scott's decision to leave the show after eight years to take some personal time and pursue new projects," NBC/Corday Productions remarked in a statement to Digest. "His contribution to the show has been tremendous and we wish him the best always."

In 2016, General Hospital's Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) was killed in a car explosion. Morgan, who suffered from bipolar depression, was unwittingly off his medication, which had been replaced with placebos by Ava Jerome. He took off in Julian Jerome's car, unaware that Julian's sister Olivia Jerome had rigged it with explosives. Drew Cain (then believed to be Jason Morgan) followed him and watched in horror as the vehicle blew up. Morgan's death was scripted when portrayer Craig opted to leave the show after a three-year run.

In 2023 on Young and Restless, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) received a visit from his estranged partner, Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom), who revealed the news that she was planning on relocating back to Genoa City from Europe with Daniel's daughter, Lucy. This was music to Daniel's ears. "I thought after everything that I put the both of you through that you never wanted to ever be close to me ever again," he admitted. Heather told Daniel that while he did destroy their family, she had forgiven him. He was overjoyed and assured Heather that he wanted to put their family back together again. They then made plans to meet for drinks the next day.

In 2024 on General Hospital, Laura Collins (Genie Francis), who had just returned to Port Charles, reunited with her (also newly back in town) son, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), in the chapel at the hospital, where he was praying for his comatose sister, Lulu, whose liver was failing. Lucky had just found out that he was not a compatible donor and was afraid his sister was going to die. The emotional scenes that took place between mother and son marked the first on-screen interaction between Francis and Jackson since the actor's short-term GH comeback in 2015. Jackson enthused to Soap Opera Digest at the time, "Getting to work with Genie again has been absolutely amazing. Just seeing her again was wonderful. It was such a joy. The idea and the thought of getting to work with Genie again was a huge part of the inspiration and the drive to come back to the show. When I was here in 2010 [after his original 1993-99 run], she wasn't on the show. And I'd had such a great time working with Tony [Geary, ex-Luke] again, and I always felt like, 'Man, I wish Genie was here. I would love to get to work with her at this stage in my life.' And, yes, I did get to work with her very, very briefly when I was here for a couple of episodes [in 2015] when Tony was leaving, but it just wasn't really enough. And it's been almost a decade since then!"
