In 1986, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) said, “I do” on Young and Restless. The pair split in 1989 but remarried in 1991, only to divorce again. In 2017, Maitland recalled in an interview with Soap Opera Digest how much she enjoyed having Diamont for a leading man, saying, "Don Diamont is one of the kindest men I know and it’s always been a delight to work with him. He was always making me laugh and he taught me a lot about having fun at work."

In 1990 on Bold and Beautiful, Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley) and Clarke Garrison (Dan McVicar) wed. The bride had  offered her much-younger groom a hefty stake in Spectra Fashions to lure him into holy matrimony. When word of the impending “I do’s” got out, the press circled like vultures, so to preserve privacy, the venue was switched at the last minute to a private penthouse suite atop the Spectra building. Conley collaborated with B&B’s costume designer on the gown (which on screen was said to have been designed by the groom), a cotton-candy pink confection of shimmering iridescent organza with a teardrop-shaped, beaded headpiece (complemented by pink diamond earrings and pink satin shoes). The merger — er, marriage — almost didn’t take place, because Sally got cold feet, but Clarke warmed them up by slipping into the bedroom and starting the honeymoon early. As they exchanged vows, a paparazzo who had scaled the side of the building snapped away; the pics ended up in style magazine Eye on Fashion.

In 2004, Robin Mattson returned to General Hospital in the iconic role of villainous Heather Webber after a 21-year absence. In 2014, she recalled the circumstances of her comeback in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, saying, "Brian Frons [then-president of ABC Daytime] contacted me and asked if the right story came along, would I be open to coming back to GH? [Heather's son] Steven Lars was being played by another actor then [Shaun Benson], but being reteamed with Jed Allan [ex-Edward; who had played CC on Santa Barbara, where Mattson played Gina] was fabulous!"

In 2010, Cane Ashby (then-Daniel Goddard) and Lily Winters Ashby's (Christel Khalil) twins, Charlie and Maddie, were born on Young and Restless via surrogate Mackenzie Browning. Mac had offered to be a surrogate for the duo because Lily had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was unable to carry a pregnancy. Mac ended up going into early labor, and things were touch and go for the twins, but they pulled through.
