In 2006 on General Hospital, Dillon Quartermaine (Scott Clifton) — who had fallen ill during the encephalitis outbreak in Port Charles — was spiking a high fever and dreamed about marrying his sweetheart, Georgie Jones (Lindze Letherman) in an ethereal ceremony set in a gazebo. When he awoke, Georgie was by his side, and when he told her about his dream, she told him that she had similarly dreamed about getting married to him. As they compared notes, the lovebirds were stunned to realize that they had had the exact same dream!

In 2008, the patriarch of the Brady family, Shawn (after whom Bo and Hope named their son, Shawn-Douglas), passed away on Days of Our Lives. His portrayer, Frank Parker, had played the role on and off since 1983. Shawn's death occurred after he flew to Ireland to reunite with his dying, long-lost sister, Colleen. On the flight home, his plane was sabotaged, and Shawn nobly gave up his oxygen to save son Bo, who was unconscious.

In 2010, All My Children's Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Budig) revealed herself to be alive at her surprise wedding to David Hayward, stunning her family and friends. The character had been presumed dead the previous year after getting into a catastrophic motorcycle accident on the day she was poised to wed Ryan Lavery. As she made her way down the aisle, Greenlee's face (and thus, her identity) was concealed by a heavy veil. Recalled Costume Designer David Zyla, "We had to incorporate this heavier veil for the reveal and so the dress was really simple. I think what we did with the jewelry was a really great fashion statement and very, very Greenlee. That long strand of pearls is, I believe, layered with her St. Christopher medal from [late husband] Leo, which is something that we thought was a very good thing to put into the mix on that particular day."

In 2013, Brandon Barash ended his original General Hospital run as Johnny Zacchara, a role he had begun playing in September 2007. Johnny was sent off to Pentonville for causing the crash that claimed the lives of Cole Thornhart and Hope Thornhart (Starr Manning's significant other and their young daughter), as well as for killing his grandfather, Anthony Zacchara. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his crimes. Barash would go on to play the twin roles of Stefan A. DiMera and Jake DiMera on Days of Our Lives.

In 2017 on Bold and Beautiful, Zende Forrester (Rome Flynn) pulled together a quickie Valentine’s Day ceremony as a gift to his bride, Nicole Forrester (Reign Edwards), who had just accepted his proposal. Rick Forrester signed on to be his best man; Eric Forrester agreed to host the nups and also to let Zende hang Nicole’s portrait above the fireplace for the ceremony. Julius escorted his daughter down the aisle, and Carter Walton, who served as the officiant, encouraged the duo’s family members to share their advice with the bride and groom. Nic and Zende then recited their personal vows. “You know me better than I thought anyone ever could,” said a beaming Nic. “I promise to always cherish you and our lives together.” Carter then happily pronounced them husband and wife.
