Luke And Laura Hid Out At Wyndham’s on General Hospital And Other Big Soap Moments From August 6

In 1980, General Hospital's Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) were on the run from mobster Frank Smith and his goons and hid in the storage closet at Wyndham's Department Store. They then danced throughout the store to "Fascination" by Percy Faith. "What a night," Luke marveled to Laura as they sipped (stolen) champagne, clad in the glamorous fashions on sale at the store. It was a landmark moment in the storied supercouple's courtship.

In 2004, Days of Our Lives's Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) accepted Lucas Horton's (Bryan R. Dattilo) marriage proposal. He popped the question in style, serenading her with "When A Man Loves A Woman" at the Penthouse Grill. She said yes in front of an audience of their family and friends.

In 2012, a drunk Sharon Newman (Sharon Case, l.) took a dunk in the pool on Young and Restless, courtesy of Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Sharon had shown up at Nikki's wedding to Jack Abbott in search of her spouse, Victor Newman, Nikki's ex-husband, who had disappeared on their recent wedding night.

In 2024, soap vet Rebecca Budig made her Bold and Beautiful debut as Taylor Hayes, a role originated by Hunter Tylo and played more recently by Krista Allen. Budig was already well-known to soap fans for her work as Guiding Light's Michelle Bauer, All My Children's Greenlee Smythe and General Hospital's Hayden Barnes. In her first interview with Soap Opera Digest about her B&B gig, Budig said she had little difficulty adjusting to life on a new set. "Everyone was so warm and welcoming when I came in that it just felt so easy," she explained. They just all made it feel so seamless for me.” She marveled at one cast member's warmth in particular, teasing, “Let me tell you something about John McCook [Eric]. Seriously, Donna had better watch out, because I’m coming for Eric [laughs]! So, John McCook texted me — I think I had just gotten the job like two days prior or something like that, and he texted me and said, ‘Hi, Rebecca, this is John McCook. We haven’t met yet and I will meet you soon, but I just wanted to welcome you to the show and tell you that this is the best show to be on in all of Los Angeles. You will find such a wonderful group of people in our family.’ I just thought that was so amazing! I mean, I love him. So, he welcomed me by text, and then, there’s a grand piano that sits in the halls of the studio and I walked out one day and he was sitting there playing the piano. I was just like, ‘Oh, my God, do I love this man!’ He is just so sweet.”

In 2024, Bryan Craig made a brief return to General Hospital as the late Morgan Corinthos, who appeared as a vision to his father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), as he battled suicidal thoughts on the hospital roof, believing he had failed as a father. Craig, who won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor for his portrayal of Morgan, enthused to Soap Opera Digest in an interview about his comeback, "I’m very grateful [to be invited back] because I love working with Maurice and I love what we did towards the end of that run [when Morgan, like his father, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder]. It was so fun to be asked back and to be able to come back to further that storyline a little bit years later. I feel very privileged." He had last been on the set nearly six years prior, when he returned for an episode in 2018. "Nothing over there at the studio has really changed," he marveled. "I mean, some stuff has changed a little bit, but it was the craziest thing, going on the set, because none of my former co-stars had changed at all! They didn’t age! It’s like GH is a time capsule or something. Seriously, it was really weird. If anything, everybody looked even better! But it was strange just to see the machine [of production] running the same way it was running 10 years ago, not a beat skipped.”
