In 1982, Kate Linder made her Young and Restless debut as Esther. In 2023, the actress recalled in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, “I went in on a general interview with Tom Palmer, who was the casting director, and at the time, AFTRA set up interviews with casting directors, so I went in and I left a tape of some of my work. I went home thinking that nothing would ever happen. A couple of days later, Tom called me and said he had this role that was really, really small and I said, ‘I would love to,’ and so here we are now. I always think, ‘What if I had said no?’ because most people would have. It all started with the line, ‘Mrs. Chancellor, dinner is served.’ That was it, but that was 40 years ago and counting.”

Still, the couple soon fell in love for real, and while their first marriage ended in divorce, they wound up remarrying — for love, this time.

In 2008 on Young and Restless, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) discovered that she and Cane (Daniel Goddard) were expecting. She was in a veritable state of shock when Cane dropped by. He asked her if she'd taken a pregnancy test, and could tell by the look on her face that she had — and that it had been a positive result. Cane tried to assure Lily that they could handle becoming parents, but Lily was convinced that Neil, her father, would not be able to accept it. Sadly, Lily ultimately miscarried the pregnancy. Cane and Lily later became parents to twins via surrogate.

In 2013, as the first Nurses' Ball since 2001 continued on General Hospital, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) performed together, dancing their signature dance, the tango. Duke was originally supposed to tango with the ball's hostess, Lucy Coe, but she was waylaid by Richard Simmons (who had tied her up), so Anna stepped in.

In 2016 on Bold and Beautiful, Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks, r.) broke down the cabin door to rescue his amnesiac half brother, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) from his mother, Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer), after discovering that she had been holding him hostage and convinced Liam that the two of them were romantically linked. Wyatt was gobsmacked to realize that Quinn had fallen for Liam and threatened to turn her in to the cops. Meanwhile, Liam's memories of his true identity had suddenly come rushing back to him, and his thoughts turned to the woman he truly loved: Steffy. When Wyatt broke down the door and rushed into the cabin, followed by Quinn, Liam revealed that he knew who he truly was. The brothers railed at Quinn for her disgusting actions. By episode's end, Liam was free and had a romantic reunion with Steffy ... who, inconveniently, had only recently tied the knot with Wyatt, believing that Liam had abandoned her.
