On Y&R, who is Mamie, who is she related to and what is her beef with Jill about?
Marcy S., Wayne, NJ
Mamie Johnson was the longtime housekeeper for the Abbott family and helped raise Jack, Ashley and Traci. Jill moved into the Abbott mansion after marrying John in 1982, and she immediately resented Mamie’s influence in the household. Much to Mamie’s relief, John divorced Jill in 1985, but they remarried in 1993. When Jill’s affair with another man had the couple headed to divorce court again, Mamie declared her love for John and they became romantically involved. However, Jill wanted to reconcile with her husband and offered Mamie
$1 million to leave town. Mamie took Jill’s bribe and moved away. She since invested wisely, which is how she bought Victor’s stake in Chancellor-Winters. Mamie is aunt to Olivia, a doctor, who is out of the country as part of Doctors Without Borders, and the late Drucilla, which makes Mamie a great aunt to her nieces’ children: Nate, Lily and Devon.
Did the Quartermaines ever find out that Monica and Ned slept together? I wasn’t watching GH at the time. Thank you! A.N., via email
Yes, Monica came clean with the family in 1990, the year after she bedded Ned, who at the time she believed to be a tennis pro named Ward — and needless to say, Alan and Tracy were particularly displeased.
Now that B&B’s Deacon has proposed to Sheila I was wondering how many times has he been married? Tammy H., via email
Deacon has wed four times. His marriages to Bridget (2001-02) and Nikki (2011-12) ended in divorce. His union with Quinn (2015-16) was annulled and tragically, his marriage to Macy (2003) was cut short by her death.
Am I correct in vaguely remembering that Alan once lived in Pautuck on GH? C.P., via email
Yes, in 1986, Alan wound up in Pautuck after faking his death. There, he pretended to be amnesiac and met store owner Charity Gatlin, Austin’s future mother.
I just finished watching VIRGIN RIVER on Netflix and saw that episode 6 was written by Mary Page Keller and Thomas Ian Griffith. There can’t be another two with those names — are they the couple from ANOTHER WORLD? I loved that show in the ’80s. Thank you. Joyce in Baltimore, MD
Yes, Joyce, you’re correct. Real-life duo Keller and Griffith, who met playing Sally and Catlin on AW and tied the knot in 1991, wrote episode 6, “Heroes Rise”, of season 5 of the series. Incidentally, another writer on the series, and a co-executive producer, is Erin Cardillo (ex-Esme, PASSIONS).

I just saw a picture of former New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and I thought it was Brandon Beemer [ex-Shawn, DAYS]. Could you print a side- by-side comparison? Tracey C., via email
