Stars Rally Around Y&R’s Doug Davidson
After Y&R’s longest-running cast member, Doug Davidson (Paul), revealed on Twitter that he had been placed on recurring status earlier this year and had no Y&R taping dates in his future, stars rallied around the fan-favorite actor. Best pal Rick Springfield (ex-Noah/Eli, GH) tweeted, “@DougDavidsonYR is my best friend forever and was the best actor and mainstay character on the show. An Emmy winning great human being, a truthful actor with an open heart. Another show needs to snap this giant hearted brilliant actor up! Xooxx.” Stephen Nichols (ex-Steve, DAYS; ex-Tucker, Y&R), who recently wrapped his DAYS run, posted, “This is an absolute travesty. What is going on over there? This man has not only acted his ass off at #YR for 40 years but is a man of the utmost integrity. I am saddened by this news. Much love, Doug!” A grateful Davidson replied, “That means so much, Stephen. You have touched my heart. Thank you.” In responding to fans’ tweeted earlier this week about his lack of airtime, Davidson directly answered one query about whether or not he had been let go with, “It seems so.” He later added, “It does hurt, to be honest.” Davidson then noted, “Honestly, it was a great run.”
