Soaps’ Most Beautiful Women – Kristina Wagner
You did your first-ever bikini shoot this year for a magazine cover. What was that like for you?
“I was very nervous. That’s when you just go, ‘Just do it. How bad can it look? Hopefully they’ll Photoshop me.’ When I saw it later, I thought, ‘Oh my God, they didn’t Photoshop me!’ I was a little freaked out, but sometimes you kind of just have to throw yourself into something. I don’t think I could have done a swimsuit issue 10 years ago, because I wouldn’t have been that confident. That’s come with time.”
Who, to you, is the ultimate beauty icon?
“Debbie Harry. Wouldn’t it be cool to be radical and to have her look?”
Do you wear much makeup in your real life?
“I’ll tell you what: Saturday I wore makeup, Sunday I didn’t, and those were both two days of not working and just doing what I do. I like fiddling around with different looks. It’s like you almost take on different characters when you wear makeup differently. Sometimes I’ll go the distance and really go [full] glamour depending on what I’m doing, who I’m with. Sometimes I just avoid it all together, though I’m usually alone then [laughs].”
What do you rely on for skin care?
“There’s an organic Japanese line I like a lot called DHC [Daigaku Honyaku Center] that I order online. I use their eye cream, their mild soap.”
What would be your best advice to someone who’s struggling with the impact of aging on their appearance?
“Occupy your mind with something else. It’s not worth it! Nitpicking yourself in a mirror over a wrinkle is toxic behavior. It’s only going to make it worse.”
