PASSIONS’s Memorable Moments

Comments

PASSIONS bids farewell on August 7, and in order to honor the show, here are 10 standout scenes. Look for more outstanding moments in the 8/12 issue of Soap Opera Digest (on sale 8/5) and feel free to list your favorites in our forums.1. Sheridan’s Christmas Miracle, 2000

Initially, Sheridan and Luis didn’t like each other, but soon fell in love. He was devastated when she was presumed dead after being assassinated by a member of a French drug cartel. However, on Christmas Eve, he learned that she and the FBI had been faking her death in order to keep her safe. Needless to say, they shared a very happy reunion and became engaged.

2. Gwen Attacks Theresa, 2000

After Gwen’s “friend” Theresa managed to steal her fiancé, Ethan, out from under her nose, Gwen got out the ‘ol baseball bat and tried to whack her rival. This gave us our first clue that Gwen had more than a couple of screws loose.

3. Ethan’s Paternity Is Revealed, 2001

Gwen was understandably furious when Ethan became engaged to Theresa. Meanwhile, Gwen, mom Rebecca and Theresa learned that Ethan wasn’t Julian’s son; he was the product of an affair between Ivy and Sam. Julian revealed the truth to Ethan during Ethan and Theresa’s engagement party.

4. Zombie Charity Is Born, 2002

Desperate to win Miguel away from Charity, Kay trapped her cousin in a cave and imprisoned her in a block of ice. Kay then created Charity’s alter ego, “Zombie Charity,” a wisecracking version of the good girl. It was a hoot to see saccharine — sweet Charity being bad — even if she was under a spell.5. Julian and Timmy’s Excellent Adventure, 2002

Julian was presumed dead after he was shot by Liz in the Crane cannery, however, it turned out that he was just in another land. In a Wizard Of Oz-inspired adventure, Julian helped Timmy search for the Demon Horn so that they could help free Charity from being a zombie. During this time, Julian and the living doll struck up an unlikely and endearing friendship.

6. Meet The Boozebournes, 2003

Move over, Ozzy. Paying homage to the popular reality show THE OSBOURNES, Ben Masters (Julian) portrayed Boozy, Andrea Evans (Rebecca) was Karen and Liza Huber (Gwen) was Shelly in their version of the wacky rock ‘n’ roll family.

7. Rebecca And Julian Get Frisky

It’s difficult to pin down an exact moment or year for this, since their kinky relationship was an ongoing thing, but who could forget some of the, uh, interesting get-ups they donned while enjoying role-playing games? Their various costumes included Father Time and Baby New Year; Daddy Warbucks and Orphan Annie, and a headmaster and schoolgirl.8. PASSIONS Gets Animated, 2005

As if Kay and Fox didn’t have enough relationship problems! Little Endora helped put things in, uh, a different perspective for them when she accidentally zapped them into a cartoon version of a fairy tale. In this world, which included the cartoon likenesses of Tabitha, Endora, Fox, Kay and Ivy, Fox’s meddling mama was a dragon … which made dealing with a figurative “dragon lady” seem a little easier.

9. PASSIONS Does Wicked, 2007

Broadway’s Wicked, the musical prequel about the witches of Oz, was the perfect show for PASSIONS to parody, given that the soap featured its own wicked witch, Tabitha. In a musical salute — which, in our opinion, was done well enough to rival the real Broadway show &mdahs; we learned about Tabby’s history and her longtime rivalry with good witch Esmerelda.

10. Vincent Gives Birth, 2008

It was shocking enough when Vincent was revealed as the raping, murdering, blackmailing half-man/half-woman who was terrorizing most of Harmony — and turned out to be Eve and Julian’s long-lost son. However, PASSIONS truly took this bizarre tale over the top when they had Vincent assume his female form, seduce his father and become pregnant with Julian’s baby — then give birth on Eve’s kitchen table. Sure, we said, “Ew!” but it kept us watching. Just not while we ate lunch.
