Digest: So, you’re a new mother?
Harrison: I have a boy and his name is Jack. He was unplanned, but very welcomed. This a great schedule for being a new mom. It’s a perfect job for this point in my life.Digest: Are you married?

Harrison: I’m not married. [Jack’s dad is named] Michael and we have a very committed relationship. We’ve been together for five years and we’re very much in love. He does some writing and acting, but he’s an assistant principal right now.

Digest: Does he have any qualms about you doing love scenes?

Harrison: I’m sure we’re going to have to do some good communicating on the subject. I’m hoping he won’t watch, but I know better than that. The fact that he started out as an actor might help. We have a really good relationship, but it’s going to take work…. So, it’s kind of weird.Digest: How was your first day on the set?

Harrison: It was great. Working with Brian [Gaskill, Oscar] is very fun and creative. I feel a good chemistry between us. He made me feel really comfortable and gave me tips about [acting in] daytime.Digest: Brad has said that Bridget is the moral center of the show. Do you think that’s still an exciting part to play?

Harrison: I find challenges in any role. The thing I’m most excited about with this character is the fact that she has been burned badly before in a relationship. So, finding a natural way to come back around full circle is rare. I’m a sucker for romance and that’s challenging enough in itself. I don’t think you have to be a mean, evil person to be challenged.Digest: Who else have you met?
Harrison: I met John [McCook, Eric]. He’s a class act all the way. He actually called me on my cell phone to welcome me to the show. He said, “Hey, I’m playing your dad. You’re going to be great.”Digest: Did you watch soaps before?
Harrison: No, but when I got this part, they sent over some tapes and I watched 10 hours of the show. Now I totally see how people get hooked on soaps. I’m watching and going, “What’s next?”Digest: How did you become an actress?
Harrison: I grew up in a very small town, with 3,000 people. It’s not a suburb of anywhere, just its own little sinkhole town on the Mississippi River. I went to college at the University of Missouri and I was there for two years. I tried several different majors and I just couldn’t find anything where I really felt my soul was being fulfilled. I was driving home from school one day and I had this epiphany where I realized that I didn’t have to stay there if I didn’t want to. I could go anywhere and do anything I wanted to do. I thought, “I’m going to be an actor.” I called my parents, I told them I was quitting school and they freaked out. I packed up all of my stuff and drove out to L.A., found an apartment and an agent and just started in.Digest: How long have you been out here?

Harrison: Six years.Digest: Was it a struggle?

Harrison: Have you ever read the book “The Optimist”? It tells how you will have beginner’s luck so the universe will tell you that you’re on the right path. I had a lot of beginner’s luck and then I had no luck and then I got lucky again.
