Los Angeles, California has had to deal with several horrific wildfires spreading across the city at the same time and the destruction has been massive, and for a few actors in the daytime community it has cost them their homes. In addition to Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital), Young and Restless star Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), Bold and Beautiful star Jennifer Gareis (Donna) and former Days of our Lives star Jessica Serfaty (ex-Sloan) have all lost their beautiful homes.

Tragic Losses

Egan shared on Instagram that she hadn’t even had the chance to move into her now-destroyed home, which she and husband Matt Katrosar had been planning to move into with their two young sons, Caden and Jake. She wrote in a note shared to her Instagram Stories, “Thank you so much to everyone reaching out. We are safe. Thank God. All that matters. But we just bought a house in the Palisades 2 weeks ago that’s now destroyed. We hadn’t moved in yet but it’s gone. We are just grateful our babies are safe, but we are devastated and this is all so horrific. Grateful to all the incredible first responders.”

On Instagram, Gareis posted a devastating image (see below) of what’s left of her home and another of a beautiful view of the water. In the caption, she started with various quotes: “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” – Desmond Tutu. “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” – Victor Hugo. “In the midst of darkness, light persists. – Mahatma Gandhi. She then added her own thoughts, writing, “These pictures are beautiful, yet devastating. (The 1st from yesterday, the 2nd last weekend) Somehow the trees remain and the grill I bought my husband more than a decade ago still stands. The sun continues to rise & the ocean unaffected. I am breathing… slow and deliberate breaths… I am calm. I know I’ll make new memories here in the years to come. In the meantime, I’ll cherish the old ones & hold my family & friends even closer. Everyone in LA stay safe & don’t give up hope. Believing in a better tomorrow is giving me peace & calm. I pray for a more united city in the future, where neighbor help neighbor. Stay positive & strong LA! 🙏🏻 🙏🏻”

On her official Instagram account, Serfaty also posted several images (see below) to illustrate the magnitude of the fire’s destruction, with before and after photos of her now-destroyed dwelling, along with her thoughts about what happened. She wrote in the caption, “My heart burns along with the city for everyone who’s lost their homes, memories, a part of their lives to the wildfires.” In one of the images, she wrote: “My home. Gone overnight. I haven’t stopped screaming and crying for the last two days. Punch pillow where my face will be buried, bleeding with hot tears. My bones ache. To live through such a tragedy is nothing something one never prepares for. Utter disbelief. Denial. Impossible. I will blink and wake up. This last year was undeniably the most difficult, traumatic year of my life. The grieving continues.. x.” Serfaty also shared a text from her son, Ronan, who seemed to be philosophical about the loss. “New beginnings,” he wrote and added, “My friend says: don’t love anything that doesn’t love u back.”

Everyone at Soap Opera Digest sends its heartfelt condolences to the actresses and all those affected by the wildfires.
