After revealing on Instagram that she had been taken off contract after 11 years on Young and Restless as Abby Newman, Melissa Ordway returned to the social media platform with a video message for fans.

The caption on her video read, “In regard to the latest breaking news… Thank you for all the support. The news is true. Bottom line- I love playing Abby Newman. I love @youngandrestlesscbs and most of all, I love our amazing fans! ❤️”

She began the video by saying, “Okay, I’m gonna try to make this under 60 seconds.” She continued,”I love you all. Thank you for all the love and the support and for everyone that has followed me and my family and our Young and the Restless journey and just that come here every day and send love and support, I love you all and thank you so much.”

Ordway shared, “I honestly was not expecting the reaction that I woke up to this morning with all the news outlets kind of taking the story and running with it. It is true, I am no longer on contract, but I’m still on Young and Restless, I’m still playing Abby, it’s just in a different capacity. So I hope that you continue to watch the wedding and the rest of the week. I hope that Abby and Devon have an amazing love story with Dominic and more babies.”

The actress expressed her desire to continue on with the show despite it being in a recurring rather than contract capacity. “I hope I am there as much as I possibly can be,” she said. “I hope that they continue to write for Abby. I hope and pray for all of that. I’m here for it. I love Abby. I love playing her. I want to be there. And bottom line, I love you guys. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the love and support.”

Co-star Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) was among the first of Ordway’s supporters to respond to her message. Egan wrote, “You are amazing and SO LOVED!!!💞💞💞 #ChabbyForever”
