Leven Rambin Walks for a Cure

Comments

With autism clearly close to her heart, ALL MY CHILDREN’s Leven Rambin (Lily) recently hosted several Walk Now events designed to boost public awareness of autism and raise funds to support Cure Autism Now.

“Since I started on ALL MY CHILDREN, I’ve really wanted to get involved somehow,” explains the young actress. “I was asking my mom and my agent what some autism charities were, and I knew Carmen Electra was working with one, so I asked her publicist about it. He said, ‘Cure Autism Now is a really good charity.’ At the same time, they contacted my publicist and said, ‘We know she’s really interested in doing something like this. We would really love to have her in any way she can be involved.’ They offered me hosting [the walks], so that was cool. I’ve hosted the Washington D.C., New York and Houston events.

“I was in Houston last weekend and it was really, really fun,” continues Rambin. “[My boyfriend] Drew came and my mom and dad were there, as well as my friends. I’m from Houston, so it was great. A bunch of my really close family friends came and one of them was just recently diagnosed with autism. I’ve been taking care of her since she was a baby. Her mom got to come to the walk and learn a lot more about it so it was really nice.”

After playing Lily for over two years now, Rambin knows plenty about autism. “I’m really glad I’m helping not only spread awareness, but spread awareness for the cure, too. The walks are actually a lot of fun. There’s a band, and the walk is 5K.”

Rambin comes equipped with walking shoes. “I walk with everyone,” she laughs. “There are activities for the kids — even pumpkin painting. There are also research booths for the parents who want to learn more about schools or new advancements in technology. There are so many different resources of information.

“The kids and parents who watch the show were really excited that I was there and really appreciative of my support,” she smiles. “It was nice to be able to do something for them. I think it’s really important.”

Rambin does not want her charity work to end with walks. “I’m going to do more with [CAN],” she asserts. “Maybe a fund-raiser in New York or a party. That would be really cool.”
