Ava teased Alan-Michael that she could retire on the settlement she would
get if she sued him for sexual harassment, and Alan-Michael ordered her to join him for a drink. Meanwhile, Jeffrey asked Ditkins for a new, dangerous secret agent assignment. “I’ve got nothing left to lose,” Jeffrey explained. Ditkins refused to let Jeffrey back into the agency because he was “damaged
goods.” Jeffrey threw a glass in anger, nearly hitting Ava, who arrived with
Alan-Michael. Jeffrey defended that he didn’t intend to hit Ava, who offered her father some more booze. Jeffrey claimed he would never be ready for a relationship with Ava: He didn’t want to screw her up. Ava explained that
she spent her whole life envying children with fathers. “Maybe we could be friends,” she suggested to Jeffrey.
Alan-Michael and Alan argued because Alan wanted to use Spaulding money to find Jonathan. Jeffrey offered to help on the cheap, much to Ava’s chagrin.
Josh and Cassie flirted and smooched as they decorated the farmhouse for the holidays. Both were pleased to have survived Marah’s interrogation. A veteran arrived to thank Josh for his work with the hospital. “This is your happy ending, Josh,” beamed Cassie. Meanwhile, Reva said her goodbyes to Marah, who decided to leave town because there was no chance of her parents reconciling. Lillian suggested Reva join a cancer survivors support group.
Alan was irate to learn that Lizzie and Jonathan didn’t attend their doctor’s appointment in Chicago. Alan interrogated Tammy, who knew nothing about Jonathan’s plans. Tammy listened to a voicemail message from Jonathan, who explained he had left town. Alan blasted Reva for Jonathan’s actions. Josh leapt to Reva’s defense, calling his ex-wife selfless. Josh asked Cassie for alone time with Reva. He told Reva he understood why she kept
her cancer a secret. Meanwhile, Remy told Tammy that as a man in his prime,
he couldn’t pine for her anymore.
