GH’s Wally Kurth (Ned) Tackles Our Random Questions
Who was your childhood celebrity crush?
“My very first one was Petula Clark. I must have had something for the British songstress, because I also had a bit of a crush on Julie Andrews. Then I saw Bonnie and Clyde and fell head over heels for Faye Dunaway.”
Who is your dream duet partner?
“Linda Ronstadt would be my fantasy. I did Pirates of Penzance, but I joined the national company after she had left. She came backstage one day and shook hands with everybody, but I was too intimidated to speak to her.”
Who do you think would win in a bar fight, Ned or DAYS’s Justin?
“Ned would probably be hanging out in more bars and getting in more fights, but I think if Justin were to get in a fight, it’d probably be over quickly and he’d win it.”
Which of the many late Quartermaines do you think Ned misses the most?
“Uncle Alan. He was my bud. I probably had more scenes on camera with Edward, Ned’s grandfather, but I feel like Ned had a special connection with Alan. I’m not even sure it was written all that much, but I was always very charmed by Alan and respected him.”
What’s the most random place you’ve run into a co-star?
“I ran into Steve [Burton, Patient 6] on a plane to Nashville four or five years ago. He was in first class and I was heading back to coach [laughs]!”
Whose dressing room at GH is your favorite to be assigned to and why?
“I have to say William deVry’s [Julian]. He has a huge television in his room and a very soft cover on his couch, which is quite nice, and the lighting is good, so I can actually do some reading. And I don’t even mind all the pictures of Wil on the wall!”
