GH’s Tanisha Harper On Jordan’s ‘Extremely Sweet’ Romance With Isaiah

General Hospital‘s Jordan Ashford has been single — some might argue, painfully single — for years, with no serious love interest on the horizon since her divorce from Curtis Ashford in 2021, which means that Tanisha Harper, the actress who assumed the role of the police commissioner-turned-deputy mayor, hasn’t gotten much of a chance to show off her potential as a romantic leading lady. But that began to change last year, when, shortly after a flirtation with Brick that didn’t amount to much, Sawandi Wilson joined the show’s cast as dashing Dr. Isaiah Gannon. Now, in a new interview with Woman’s World, Harper spoke out about the uptick in attention GH is giving to Jordan’s personal life.
Personal Preference
How a stunningly gorgeous woman like Jordan hasn’t had a slew of eligible Port Charles bachelors clamoring for her attention is a question viewers have been asking for years now. Harper is aware of this, observing that “fans noticed they don’t really know much about Jordan outside of [her work life].” Of the tenderness the budding Jordan/Isaiah relationship has brought out in Jordan, Harper said, “This is a side of her I’ve wanted to showcase. We don’t get to see her more vulnerable, emotional, and playful side. Having this opportunity to have a love interest and show her softer side is fun, and it’s going to be great to explore that so the fans can see a more human side to her.”
Behind the scenes, Harper shared, she was immediately impressed by how her new co-star adapted to the fast-paced GH production schedule. “From his first day, he was bombarded with so many scenes and meeting so many people and characters, and that is extremely overwhelming,” she noted. “I loved how he just took it in stride. He was very calm and didn’t let it affect him.”
The actress confessed that when she was a newcomer to the GH scene, she struggled with anxiety, which made her appreciate Wilson’s levelheaded demeanor all the more. “He has this wonderful way of pacing himself and not letting it get to him, and that rubs off onto me,” Harper mused. “He’s a wonderful human being and I’m very fortunate to work with him — because that’s not always the case, especially with love interests.”
Of course, Isaiah isn’t the only new man in Jordan’s life — she’s also got a new criminal to try to take down in the form of Jens Sidwell, played by Carlo Rota. Harper couldn’t be more delighted by that fact, and enthused, “It’s going to be a fun juxtaposition to go undercover, working Sidwell, while having this romantic relationship with this extremely sweet and nurturing doctor.”
Harper promised that the romance of Isaiah and Jordan “really picks up in the next few weeks,” but her side quest involving Sidwell will provide immediate complications. The star pointed out that “she’s got to keep [her relationship with Isaiah] hidden so she can do what she needs to do with Sidwell,” and wondered, “Will Isaiah be strong enough to handle a woman like that?”
Jordan’s focus on making sure justice is served on the Sidwell front comes on the heels of the exit of her longtime foe, Cyrus Renault, who was played by Jeff Kober. As fans will recall, Jordan and Cyrus’s tense history dates back to before either set foot in Port Charles. And while Jordan certainly isn’t sorry that the menacing Cyrus is no longer on the loose, Harper opined that Jordan isn’t terribly happy that she didn’t get to be the one to mete out his punishment (that honor went to Josslyn). “Obviously there’s that sense of relief that he can no longer hurt anyone, but this isn’t the way that she wanted it to go down,” the actress declared. “She may have wanted to do it herself!”

Crush Groove: Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) and Jordan will get closer than ever in the coming weeks.
